The Diamondbacks recalled Del Castillo from Triple-A Reno on Sunday.
Arizona designated outfielder Max Kepler for assignment to clear room on the 28-man active roster for Del Castillo, who has hit .199 with five home runs, one stolen base, 24 RBI and 18 runs across 192 plate appearances at the big-league level this season. He's expected to see scarce playing time over the final three weeks of the regular season as Arizona's No. 3 catcher and as an option at designated hitter.
