Soto was traded to the Cubs on Monday in exchange for cash considerations, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Soto pitched well between Triple-A and the majors last season in the Indians organization, putting together 3.1 scoreless innings with the big club during the 2015 campaign. This was good enough to pique the Cubs' interest, and now he'll take the slot of the injured Kyle Schwarber (knee, ankle) on the 40-man roster. In a consequential move, Soto was optioned to Triple-A Iowa and will slot into their bullpen until he's needed at the major league level.
