Pena (calf) is expected to play in minor-league rehab games this week and could come off the injured list for the final series before the All-Star break against the Rangers next weekend, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.
The veteran shortstop landed on the shelf last Tuesday due to a calf strain, but it appears his absence will end up being a brief one. Pena was swinging a hot bat prior to the injury, having gone 8-for-21 with two walks, three RBI and five runs in his last five games.
