Umanmielen (ankle) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Packers.
The 2025 third-round pick from Ole Miss didn't practice all week due to an ankle injury, so it's no surprise that he'll be sidelined Sunday. Expect Thomas Incoom and Trevis Gipson to operate as the Panthers' top reserve edge rushers while Umanmielen is out in Week 9.

Umanmielen (ankle) did not participate in Wednesday's practice.
Umanmielen likely tweaked his ankle during the Panthers' Week 8 loss to the Bills, and the injury prevented the rookie third-rounder from practicing Wednesday. He'll have two more opportunities to return to practice and avoid an injury tag heading into Sunday's game against Green Bay. Umanmielen has worked in a rotational role at linebacker and has nine tackles (five solo), including 1.5 sacks, through the first eight regular-season games of his NFL career.

Umanmielen (shoulder) underwent X-rays, which came back clean, after Thursday's 19-10 preseason loss to the Steelers, David Newton of ESPN.com reports.
Umanmielen left Thursday's contest in the first half after suffering a shoulder injury, but he appears to have avoided a serious injury. The edge rusher said that his X-rays didn't reveal anything, and he thinks he'll be fine. Umanmielen will now shift his focus to ensuring he's ready for Week 1 versus the Jaguars on Sept. 7.
