Saints' Jaylan Ford: Collects eight tackles Sunday
Ford (fibula) recorded eight tackles (five solo) during Sunday's 27-13 preseason loss against the Chargers.
Ford was placed on New Orleans' injured-reserve list prior to its final game of the 2024 season due to a broken fibula, but he was back in playing shape for the team's 2025 preseason opener. The 2024 fifth-rounder isn't a lock for a roster spot for the upcoming campaign, but having tied for the team lead in tackles in Sunday's preseason contest certainly won't hurt his case.

Saints' Jaylan Ford: Done for 2024
Head coach Darren Rizzi said Monday that Ford will have surgery for a fractured fibula that he suffered during the Saints' 25-10 loss to the Raiders on Sunday, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
Ford was carted off the field in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game after suffering the injury on punt coverage. Per John Hendrix of SI.com, the Saints will conduct additional tests on Ford's leg to see if there's any further structural or ligament damage beyond the fracture before moving ahead with surgery. The rookie fifth-round pick played primarily on special teams during his first NFL regular season and finished with four tackles (two solo) across eight games.

Saints' Jaylan Ford: Full go Wednesday
Ford (hamstring) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice.
Ford missed each of the Saints' first two contests due to a hamstring injury, but following Wednesday's full practice, it appears he's moved past the issue. The 2024 fifth-round pick from Texas will now have the opportunity to make his NFL debut in Week 3, as the Saints host the Eagles.

Saints' Jaylan Ford: Inactive for Week 2
Ford (hamstring) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Cowboys, Ross Jackson of WWL Louisiana reports.
Ford was a limited participant in all three practices this week, but he hasn't progressed through his hamstring injury enough to suit up for Sunday's contest. The rookie fifth-round pick has missed the first two games of the regular season due to a hamstring injury he sustained in training camp. Week 3 against the Eagles on Sept. 22 will be Ford's next opportunity to make his NFL debut.

Saints' Jaylan Ford: Won't play Sunday
Ford (hamstring) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Panthers, Jeff Nowak of Audacy Sports reports.
Ford missing New Orleans' Week 1 contest comes as no surprise given that the 22-year-old linebacker missed the entire week of practice due to a hamstring issue. Expect Anfernee Orji to serve as the Saints' top rotational inside linebacker in Ford's stead.

Saints' Jaylan Ford: Nursing hamstring injury
Ford left Wednesday's practice due to a hamstring injury, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.
The rookie fifth-round pick sat out for most of the summer due to a knee injury he sustained in late 2023. Ford recovered from that injury and managed to play 13 snaps (nine on defense, four on special teams) and registered three tackles in Saturday's preseason game against the Cardinals. This latest setback could keep Ford from suiting up against San Francisco on Sunday.

Saints' Jaylan Ford: Big Easy bound
The Saints selected Ford in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 175th overall.
The former Texas Longhorn comes to the NFL with two 100-plus tackle seasons under his belt. Ford is not known as a top-tier athlete, but he's a tackling machine with a knack for playmaking, as he recorded six interceptions over his last two seasons in Austin. He played middle linebacker at Texas and profiles as a depth piece behind Demario Davis.
