Draft Scouting Report
Miles Scott is a highly intelligent former walk-on who successfully transitioned from wide receiver to become the "quarterback" of the Illinois secondary. A two-time team captain and Academic All-Big Ten selection, he is a disciplined deep safety known for his elite ability to read the quarterback’s eyes. His journey from an unheralded offensive player to a top-tier Big Ten defender highlights his exceptional work ethic and football IQ.
- 2024-25: Two-time team captain
- Career: 182 tackles, 7 INT (two pick-sixes)
- Elite diagnostic skills as a deep safety to anticipate throws.
- Reliable, wrap-up tackler who takes efficient angles coming downhill.
- Asset in the run game with the physicality to blow up gaps.
- Can be overly aggressive and susceptible to play-action or pump fakes.
- Limited exposure as a dedicated pass rusher or man-to-man specialist.
- Straight-line speed is solid but doesn't show elite recovery burst.

Broncos' Miles Scott: Lands with Broncos
The Broncos selected Scott in the seventh round of the 2026 NFL Draft, 246th overall.
Scott (6-foot, 203 pounds) will have his work cut out for him to compete for a depth role in Denver's secondary, but he boasts the size, ball skills (as a former wide receiver) and experience to find a role if he can make the most of his developmental opportunities. The 24-year-old started the final three seasons of his five-year career at Illinois. Expect Scott to kick off his rookie year competing with JL Skinner (shoulder), Devon Key and Tycen Anderson for depth reps at safety.
