Connor Bazelak: Goes back to practice squad
Bazelak reverted to the Buccaneers' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Bazelak was elevated from the practice squad for the first time this season ahead of Sunday's win over New Orleans but didn't see any action. His elevation appeared to be insurance since both Baker Mayfield and Teddy Bridgewater managed injuries during the week. Bazelak is unlikely to be elevated again following Tampa Bay's Week 9 bye unless at least one QB ahead of him on the depth chart is at risk of not being able to suit up.

Buccaneers' Connor Bazelak: Gets elevated for Week 8
The Buccaneers elevated Bazelak from their practice squad Saturday ahead of Sunday's matchup versus New Orleans, Scott Smith of Tampa Bay's official site reports.
Bazelak signed with the Bucs as an undrafted free agent in May and ended up on the team's practice squad after being waived in late August. While neither of the team's top two quarterbacks -- Baker Mayfield and Teddy Bridgewater -- have an injury designation heading into Sunday, Mayfield dealt with a knee issue during the week and Bridgewater missed practice Wednesday and Thursday due to an issue with his teeth before participating in full Friday. Bazelak could end up being inactive as the emergency third QB for Sunday's clash against the Saints.

Connor Bazelak: Signs onto Bucs' practice squad
Tampa Bay signed Bazelak to its practice squad Thursday, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
The undrafted rookie couldn't beat out Teddy Bridgewater for a spot on the Buccaneers' final 53-man roster for 2025, but he'll be throwing passes for the team on the practice squad. An injury to Bridgewater or starter Baker Mayfield represents Bazelak's path to an elevation this season.

Connor Bazelak: Waived by Tampa Bay
The Bucs waived Bazelak on Monday, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
Bazelak played well during the preseason, completing 32 of 46 pass attempts for 261 yards (5.7 yards per attempt) and one touchdown. However, the undrafted rookie out of Bowling Green was always a long shot to make the 53-man roster behind Baker Mayfield, Kyle Trask and newcomer Teddy Bridgewater. Bazelak will be a candidate to land on Tampa Bay's practice squad if he clears waivers.

Buccaneers' Connor Bazelak: Sharp in limited playing time
Bazelak completed six of nine passes for 48 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions in the Buccaneers' 29-7 preseason win over the Titans on Saturday night.
The undrafted rookie came into the contest with 9:16 remaining in the third quarter and played the entirety of the second half. Bazelak's first three drives culminated in a punt, a fumble and a punt, but he was able to lead short marches that netted a field goal and a touchdown to close out the game. Bazelak is firmly behind Kyle Trask and Teddy Bridgewater on the depth chart, but a strong body of work this summer could lead to a practice-squad spot.

Buccaneers' Connor Bazelak: Makes deal with Bucs
Tampa Bay signed Bazelak as an undrafted free agent Friday, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
Bazelak spent time at Missouri and Indiana before finding his ideal fit in Bowling Green during his last two years in college. His 2024 season was particularly fruitful, as he was able to demonstrate both standout overall production (3,044 passing yards) and efficiency (66.9 percent completion rate). He'll turn 25 in September though, so it's unlikely there's very much room left for him to grow.
