  • Falcons' Emory Jones: Reverts to IR

Jones (concussion) reverted to injured reserve after clearing waivers Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Jones was waived with an injury designation by Atlanta on Monday, and he'll now spend the 2025 season on injured reserve unless the Falcons later cut the quarterback with an injury settlement.

  • Emory Jones: Waived with injury designation

The Falcons waived Jones (concussion) with an injury designation Monday, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site reports.

  • Falcons' Emory Jones: Enters after halftime Friday

Jones completed four of five pass attempts for 49 yards while taking two carries for nine yards in Friday's preseason tilt against the Lions.

Easton Stick started the first half for the Falcons (15-18, 149 yards, TD) and outperformed Jones on a statistical basis. In the latter's defense, he only had a fraction of the interim starter's playing time after the game was suspended following three quarters of play. Jones is currently competing with Stick for the Falcons' third quarterback role behind Michael Penix and a disgruntled Kirk Cousins. The next opportunity for Jones to showcase his skills will come against Tennessee next Friday.

  • Falcons' Emory Jones: Set to split with Stick on Friday

Jones and Easton Stick will be Atlanta's available quarterbacks for Friday's preseason opener against the Lions, as Michael Penix and Kirk Cousins will be rested, Terrin Waack of the Falcons' official site reports.

Jones went undrafted out of Cincinnati in 2024 and was on Atlanta's practice squad after signing with the team in December. He's the underdog against Stick in the competition for the third spot on the Falcons' quarterback depth chart, though it's possible the winner of the competition could eventually move up to the backup role given Cousins' desire to be traded.

  • Emory Jones: Headed to Atlanta

The Falcons signed Jones to the practice squad Thursday, Tori McElhaney of the team's official site reports.

Jones had been without a team for most of the 2024 season after failing to make the Ravens' 53-man roster at the conclusion of training camp. McElhaney relays that Jones was added to the Falcons' practice squad to emulate Jayden Daniels on the scout team ahead of Atlanta's game against Washington on Sunday.

  • Emory Jones: Dropped by Baltimore

Jones was waived by the Ravens on Monday, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.

With the deadline for final rosters looming, Jones ultimately did not make the cut. He was competing with Devin Leary for the No. 3 role under center behind Lamar Jackson and Josh Johnson. It remains to be seen if the undrafted free agent will end up joing the Ravens' practice squad or find an opportunity elsewhere.
