Top David Sills News

  • Falcons' David Sills: Catches pass in preseason opener

Sills caught one of two targets for 15 yards during Friday's 17-10 preseason loss to the Lions.

The undrafted wideout out of West Virginia hasn't played a regular-season game in the NFL since 2023. There's a lot of competition for the final wideout spots behind Drake London, Darnell Mooney, Ray-Ray McCloud and KhaDarel Hodge. Given Jamal Agnew's return abilities, he'll likely take the fifth spot, leaving Sills to compete with Casey Washington, DJ Chark, Dylan Drummond and Chris Blair for potentially only one spot.

  • Falcons' David Sills: Headed to Atlanta

The Falcons signed Sills to a reserve/future contract Tuesday, Terrin Waack of the team's official site reports.

Sills spent the entire 2024 season on the Broncos' practice squad after failing to make the 53-man roster at the end of training camp in late August, but he didn't play in the regular season despite being elevated for Week 17 against the Bengals. Sills last saw NFL regular-season action in 2023 with the Giants, during which he played 16 snaps across three games but did not show up in the box score otherwise. The 28-year-old wideout out of West Virginia will take his talents to Atlanta, where he will have a chance to make the Falcons' 53-man roster for the 2025 campaign.

The Broncos reverted Sills to their practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.

Sills garnered his third straight practice-squad elevation ahead of Week 12's win over Cleveland, and he played on five offensive snaps without logging any stats. If Denver wants to deploy Sills for another game, the team would first need to sign him to the active roster.

The Broncos elevated Sills from the practice squad Saturday.

  • David Sills: Gets let go

Sills was released by the Giants on Tuesday, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.

  • Giants' David Sills: Top receiver in preseason finale

Sills caught six of nine targets for 81 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's exhibition loss to the Jets.

The Giants sat out most of their starters in the contest, giving Sills ample opportunity to make a final case for a roster spot. He performed well, leading the team in targets, catches and yards while hauling in the only receiving TD on a 30-yard heave from Tommy DeVito with less than a minute left in the game. Despite the standout performance, Sills remains a long shot for a spot on the initial 53-man roster given the Giants' crowded receiver room.

  • Giants' David Sills: Takes hard hit

Sills left practice early Thursday after suffering what appeared to be a back or rib injury, Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports reports.

Sills sustained the injury while landing hard on the ground on an attempted catch. However, he was able to walk off the field on his own. The soon-to-be 27-year-old appeared in nine games for the Giants last season, making 11 catches on 17 targets for 106 yards. He's expected to be fighting for a depth role in the Giants' receiving corps, which added Parris Campbell, Jeff Smith and Jamison Crowder in free agency, while also adding Jalin Hyatt in the third round of the 2023 Draft.
