For the second straight summer, Butler appeared on track to land on the team's final 53-man roster, but he couldn't make the cut. He spent last season on the team's practice squad and may end up there again if he clears waivers.

Butler signed a reserve/future contract with the Saints on Monday, Mike Triplett of ESPN.com reports.
Butler was one of the Saints' last cuts in August, and he spent the season on the team's practice squad. The undrafted free agent out of Nothern Arizona will get another chance to secure a depth role with the Saints in 2020.

Listed at 6-foot-4, 220 pounds, the undrafted rookie out of Northern Arizona caught just six of 12 targets for 47 yards and a touchdown in three preseason games, but his strong work in practice could earn him a spot on the 53-man roster. Butler is competing with a horde of other young players for the remaining wideout spots behind Michael Thomas, Ted Ginn and Tre'Quan Smith.

Saints' Emmanuel Butler: Impressive in camp
Butler has been impressive in training camp and could earn a spot on the Saints' 53-man roster, Amie Just of NOLA.com reports.
Butler -- who went undrafted out of Northern Arizona this year -- has been one of the stars of Saints training camp thus far. The 6-foot-4 wideout racked up 3,217 receiving yards and 33 touchdowns in his four-year collegiate career and has become "somebody we've noticed," according to head coach Sean Payton. Considering both Keith Kirkwood and Austin Carr factored into the Saints' offense last season and the likes of Simmie Cobbs and Rishard Matthews currently rank above him on the depth chart, Butler will need to string together a strong preseason in order to earn a spot on the roster.

Butler (undisclosed) passed his physical Monday, signaling that he will be healthy to start training camp, Herbie Teope of NFL.com reports.
Butler was dealing with an injury that forced him to be placed on the Non-Football Injury list, but seems good to go for camp. The Northern Arizona product signed as an undrafted free agent this offseason, and caught 35 passes for 676 yards and seven touchdowns last season collegiality.
