Saints' Will Clapp: Done for 2025
Clapp (foot) was placed on the Saints' injured reserve list Tuesday, Ross Jackson of WWL Louisiana reports.
Per Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, Clapp suffered a Lisfranc injury in his right foot during the Saints' preseason game against the Chargers on Sunday, and the 2018 seventh-rounder will miss the entire 2025 season as a result. Kyle Hergel and Torricelli Simpkins are candidates to serve as the Saints' backup center behind Erik McCoy due to Clapp's injury.

Saints' Will Clapp: Dealing with significant injury
Clapp (foot) is expected to miss significant time, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
Clapp was carted off the field in Sunday's preseason loss to the Chargers with what is now understood to be a right foot injury. The Saints are fearful that the center suffered a potentially season-ending injury, which would require surgery, but they're awaiting final confirmation from test results, according to NFL reporter Jordan Schultz. Clapp was expected to serve as a top reserve option with New Orleans this season, so the injury deals a blow to the Saints' offensive-line depth.

Saints' Will Clapp: Carted off Sunday
Clapp (undisclosed) was carted off the field during Sunday's 27-13 preseason loss to the Chargers, Jeff Nowak of the Saints' television network reports.
Clapp suffered the injury in the first quarter, and he was spotted with his right shoe off as he took the cart to the locker room. Head coach Kellen Moore did not provide an update on Clapp's status after the game, but more information on the injury likely will be provided in the near future.

Saints' Will Clapp: Returning to New Orleans
The Saints re-signed Clapp to a one-year contract Friday, Luke Johnson of NOLA.com reports.
Clapp, a 2018 seventh-round pick of the Saints, returns to New Orleans after having spent time in a depth role with Buffalo last season. He'll provide depth along the interior of the offensive line for the 2025 campaign.

Head coach Sean McDermott relayed Thursday that Clapp has been out of practice while in concussion protocols, Alec White of the Bills' official site reports.
Clapp signed a one-year deal with the Bills in March after spending the last two seasons with the Chargers. He started in 11 of 14 games for the Bolts in 2023, and he is currently slated as the Bills' backup center behind Connor McGovern. Clapp has played 41 snaps (39 on offense, two on special teams) across Buffalo's two preseason games, though he would be forced to miss Saturday's preseason finale against Carolina if he isn't able to pass the league's concussion protocols.

Clapp missed the final three games of the Chargers' 2023 campaign due to a knee injury, but after agreeing to terms with Buffalo on Friday, it seems as if he's moved past the issue. The veteran offensive lineman spent the first six seasons of his career with New Orleans and Los Angeles, appearing in 65 total games and making 21 starts. He'll likely have the opportunity to start at center for the Bills in 2024.
