Grant Nelson: Bound for free agency
Nelson became a free agent Monday after his 10-day contract with the Nets expired, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports.
The undrafted rookie out of Alabama appeared in four of the Nets' five games after signing his contract Feb. 27 and averaged 4.3 points, 1.5 rebounds, 1.3 blocks and 1.3 assists in 8.8 minutes per contest. If the Nets intend to bring Nelson back on a second 10-day pact or rest-of-season deal, the team will likely finalize his signing prior to Monday's game against the Grizzlies.

Nets' Grant Nelson: Signs 10-day deal with Nets
Nelson signed a 10-day contract with the Nets on Friday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.
Nelson averaged 11.0 points on 55 percent shooting from the field and 6.0 rebounds per game with the G League's Long Island Nets. Brooklyn requires some emergency depth, so it will be interesting to see if Nelson can find some minutes.

Nets' Grant Nelson: Signs with Brooklyn
Nelson is set to join the Nets and compete for a two-way contract, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.
Nelson served as the enforcer and glue guy for Alabama during the 2024-25 season, averaging 11.5 points, 7.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.2 blocks while shooting 52.2 percent from the field and 25.8 percent from three across 37 games. The forward boasts explosive vertical athleticism, regularly throwing down highlight-reel dunks, and shows strong instincts playing off the ball. However, he's somewhat of a defensive tweener and must improve the consistency of his jump shot. Though he went undrafted, Nelson could still carve out a role on a Nets squad expected to lean heavily into a youth movement in 2025-26.
