Top Scotty Pippen Jr. News

  • Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Dealing with toe soreness

Pippen is out for Saturday's preseason game against the Hawks due to toe soreness, Damichael Cole of The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports.

Pippen will sit out another preseason game due to toe soreness, though it's unclear if the injury will be severe enough to keep him sidelined for more time. The Grizzlies have two more preseason games after Saturday's contest against the Hawks, followed by their regular-season opener against the Pelicans on Wednesday, Oct. 22.

  • Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Sits out Wednesday

Pippen didn't play in Wednesday's preseason loss to the Celtics.

It appears that Pippen was simply a healthy scratch in this exhibition tilt. With Ja Morant (ankle) week-to-week, the Grizzlies are hoping that Pippen and Ty Jerome will help pick up the slack at point guard to begin the season. It's worth noting that Pippen averaged 14.2 points, 5.7 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 1.7 steals in 26.8 minutes per game over 21 regular-season appearances as a starter in 2024-25.

  • Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Strong preseason performance

Pippen managed 13 points (3-7 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 6-7 FT), three assists, two rebounds and one steal in 20 minutes during Monday's 128-112 preseason loss to Detroit.

Pippen picked up where he left off last season, playing a meaningful role despite coming off the bench. With Ja Morant (ankle) already sidelined, Pippen will likely battle newly acquired Ty Jerome for the starting point guard spot once the regular season starts. Pippen was somewhat of a revelation last season, stepping into a sizeable role as the Grizzlies once again dealt with multiple injuries to key players. Although his minutes are far from a guarantee, look for Pippen to play a relatively consistent role when all is said and done.

  • Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Career-best effort in Game 4 loss

Pippen provided 30 points (9-21 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 10-10 FT), 11 rebounds and four assists in 37 minutes before fouling out of Saturday's 117-115 loss to the Thunder in Game 4 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.

With Ja Morant (hip) sidelined, the Grizzlies had little chance of avoiding a sweep, but Pippen very nearly kept his team alive with a career-best scoring effort and his first career playoff double-double. The third-year guard put together back-to-back huge efforts to close out Memphis' campaign, as he makes a case to be more than just a rotational option in 2025-26.

  • Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Lands career-high six triples

Pippen logged 28 points (8-16 FG, 6-10 3Pt, 6-6 FT), five rebounds, five assists, one block and three steals over 38 minutes during Thursday's 114-108 loss to the Thunder in Game 3 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.

Pippen got the Grizzlies off to a tremendous start, connecting on four three-pointers in the first quarter. He ended with six triples, a career-best mark for the young guard. Ja Morant left the game late in the second quarter after taking a hard spill, with his availability for the next game in some doubt. Should Morant ultimately be ruled out, look for Pippen to once again step into a much larger role as Memphis looks to extend the series to five games.

  • Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Poor shooting in loss

Pippen accumulated 13 points (4-12 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 3-3 FT), four rebounds and one assist across 31 minutes during Tuesday's 118-99 loss to the Thunder in Game 2 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.

Pippen had a second straight rough game in the shooting department, as he's now gone 5-for-21 from the field during the first two games of this playoff series. The Vanderbilt product was one of five players for Memphis to score in double figures, but it was nowhere near enough to help propel the team to victory, resulting in a 2-0 deficit heading into Game 3.

  • Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Poor shooting in loss

Pippen recorded two points (1-9 FG, 0-4 3Pt), two rebounds, four assists and one steal over 22 minutes during Sunday's 131-80 loss to Oklahoma City in Game 1 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.

Pippen was one of many players on the Grizzlies who had an off night in Game 1 against the Thunder. The talented guard went 1-for-9 from the field Sunday, as he was unable to get anything going in an embarrassing 51-point loss in Oklahoma City.

  • Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Scores nine points in loss

Pippen supplied nine points (3-8 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 3-4 FT), five rebounds, five assists and one steal in 34 minutes before fouling out of Tuesday's 121-116 Play-In Game loss to Golden State.

Ja Morant tweaked his ankle in the loss, though the star guard insists he won't miss any time. However, if Morant's ankle gets the best of him, Pippen could be forced into a much larger role for the Grizzlies. Pippen is coming off a strong regular season, posting averages of 9.9 points, 4.4 assists, 3.3 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.1 three-pointers across 79 appearances.

  • Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Starting in Play-In Game

Pippen will start in Tuesday's Play-In Game against Golden State, Anthony Slater of The Athletic reports.

The 24-year-old guard will supplant Vince Williams in the starting five on Tuesday. Pippen has started in five outings since the All-Star break, averaging 15.0 points, 6.4 assists, 5.6 rebounds, 2.2 three-pointers and 1.8 steals across 27.8 minutes per game in those five matchups.

  • Grizzlies' Scotty Pippen: Off injury report for Tuesday

Pippen (back) is off the injury report for Tuesday's Play-In Game against the Warriors.

Pippen missed the club's regular-season finale in Sunday's win over the Mavericks due to low back soreness, though he's set to return for Tuesday's Play-In Game. The 24-year-old has averaged 13.3 points, 5.0 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals across 25.5 minutes per game in his last 10 outings (three starts).
