Draft Scouting Report
Pro Comparison: Dalano Banton
Summary
Copeland spent his first two seasons at Syracuse before becoming a starter at McNeese State as a junior. He followed Will Wade to NC State and averaged 13.9 points, 6.5 assists, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.8 steals to help lead his second team to the NCAA Tournament in as many years. He’s viewed as a potential late-second round pick who could fight for a two-way deal next year.
About
- 2026 All-ACC Third Team.
- Led the ACC is assists and was 5th in steals
- 2025 All-Southland Conference Second Team
Strengths
- Excellent physical tools for a guard, measuring at 6-foot-5-plus without shoes, a 6-foot-11 wingspan, open floor speed, and bouncy athleticism at the rim.
- Creative playmaker who gets to the rim, has a knack for drawing fouls, and is a dangerous passer off the dribble (7th highest assist rate in the country).
- Length and quickness to be a defensive playmaker and also potentially multi-positional on that end of the floor.
Weaknesses
- Can be wild with his decision-making and commit unforced turnovers.
- Shooting was a glaring liability for the first three years of his college career. While he made 40% of his 3-pointers this year, he was extremely selective with his attempts, and is a career 29% three-point shooter.
- Got less effective when the game slowed down and only ranked in the 39th percentile as a pick-and-roll handler.
