Clarke (knee) is questionable for Wednesday's game against the Timberwolves.
After spending nearly two months in recovery mode due to offseason right knee surgery, Clarke appears to be on the cusp of making his season debut. The Grizzlies figure to have heavy restrictions in place for the 2019 first-rounder once he's cleared to hit the court, though. With Zach Edey (ankle) on the shelf, Clarke does have the opportunity to seize a sizable role in the Memphis frontcourt when he's eventually back up to speed.

While it's unlikely that Clarke will play, simply receiving the doubtful tag can be considered a sign of progress. Clarke recently got in a practice with Memphis' G League affiliate, which is a big step in his rehab from knee surgery.

Clarke, who underwent a procedure to address knee synovitis Sep. 26, is seemingly making good progress based on this update. The Grizzlies announced Tuesday that Clarke (knee) is progressing well, but he will be sidelined for another six-to-nine weeks.
Clarke underwent a procedure to address knee synovitis back on Sep. 26, but a timetable was never provided at the time. The Grizzlies have provided more clarity this time around, and based on this updated timetable, the earliest possible return date would be Dec. 26 against the Bucks. Given his injury history, Clarke will likely face heavy restrictions once he does get the green light to return.

Clarke missed the last 14 regular-season games and the four games in the first round of the playoffs during the 2024-25 campaign due to a PCL sprain. The 28-year-old has frequently battled injuries throughout his career, as he has never played more than 64 regular-season games during his previous six seasons in Memphis. He is expected to make a full recovery from the procedure on his knee, but it is uncertain when he'll make his debut during the 2025-26 season.

Grizzlies' Brandon Clarke: Won't have knee surgery
Clarke received an orthobiologic injection in his right knee Monday, but he will not require surgery and is expected to make a full recovery prior to the 2025-26 regular season.
Clarke suffered a high-grade PCL sprain in his right knee against the Trail Blazers on March 19. He went through several consultations to determine a rehab schedule, and it was determined that the 2019 first-round pick will not need surgery. Clarke appeared in 64 regular-season games (including 18 starts) and averaged 8.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.0 assists across 18.9 minutes per game prior to his knee injury.

The Grizzlies announced Saturday that Clarke has been diagnosed with a high-grade PCL sprain in his right knee and is expected to miss the remainder of the 2024-25 season.
Clarke sustained his right knee injury during the first quarter of Memphis' contest against Portland on March 19 and will now miss the remainder of the season. Jay Huff should receive increased playing time in his absence.
