Lakers' Deandre Ayton: Battling through illness
Ayton did not participate in Saturday's practice due to an illness, but he will travel with the Lakers ahead of Sunday's game against the Jazz, Khobi Price of The Orange County Register reports.
Ayton can be considered questionable for Sunday's contest, and his status will become more clear when he goes through morning shootarounds and pregame warmups. Ayton's absence would likely lead to Jaxson Hayes entering the Lakers' starting five, and Maxi Kleber would be in line for minutes off the bench. Over his last eight games, Ayton has averaged 17.8 points on 75.3 percent shooting, 9.5 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 1.0 blocks and 0.9 steals over 29.6 minutes per game, and he has registered a double-double in three consecutive outings.

Lakers' Gabe Vincent: Hits two triples in return
Vincent (ankle) finished with six points (2-3 FG, 2-3 3Pt) and one assist in 16 minutes Tuesday in the Lakers' 140-126 win over the Jazz.
While LeBron James' (sciatica) season debut captured most of the headlines, Vincent's return from an extended absence of his own helped bring the Los Angeles rotation back to full strength for the first time in 2025-26. Vincent had started in the Lakers' first three games before going down with a slight ligament tear and sprain of his left ankle, but James' return relegated the veteran guard to the bench. Vincent knocked down a couple of outside shots and was a plus-15 during his time on the court, but he's unlikely to be in line for much more than the 16 minutes he received Tuesday while the Lakers have all of their key guards and wings available.

Lakers' Jarred Vanderbilt: Cut out of rotation
Vanderbilt (coach's decision) went unused off the bench in Tuesday's 140-126 win over the Jazz.
After he had seen his playing time decline from 19 minutes to 11 to eight over the Lakers' previous three contests, Vanderbilt ended up falling out of the rotation entirely Tuesday while Los Angeles welcomed LeBron James (sciatica) and Gabe Vincent (ankle) back from long-term absences. Though Vanderbilt could reclaim a role on the second unit if the Lakers are missing a player or two in their nine-man rotation for a given game, he may struggle to get off the bench more often than not when the team is at full strength.

Lakers' Jaxson Hayes: Scores eight in win
Hayes posted eight points (3-3 FG, 2-3 FT), three rebounds and one steal in 15 minutes during Tuesday's 140-126 win over Utah.
Hayes has been a formidable backup to Deandre Ayton and has turned it up on offense recently, averaging 9.0 points on 85.7 percent from the field through 16.0 minutes. While his role among the second unit has been established, Hayes would be a solid addition should Ayton miss time, as he dropped 15 points and five rebounds in his lone start this season.

Lakers' Deandre Ayton: Drops monster double-double in win
Ayton finished Tuesday's 140-126 win over the Jazz with 20 points (10-13 FG, 0-2 FT), 14 rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal across 30 minutes.
Ayton has now put up 20 points in three straight contests, and he benefited from the return of LeBron James (sciatica) with easy baskets. Ayton is averaging 16.5 points, 8.8 rebounds, 0.9 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.9 blocks across 30.4 minutes this season.

Lakers' Austin Reaves: Posts 26 points in victory
Reaves had 26 points (7-11 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 11-12 FT), five rebounds, one assist and one steal across 33 minutes during Tuesday's 140-126 win over the Jazz.
Reaves has been on fire since returning from a groin injury, averaging 23.8 points, 5.2 assists, 5.0 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 1.2 blocked shots over the last five games. He also sported a field-goal percentage of 49.3 percent over that span. Although LeBron James has returned to action, Reaves should continue to distinguish himself as the team's second-best scoring option behind Luka Doncic.

Lakers' Luka Doncic: Records monster double-double
Doncic produced 37 points (11-22 FG, 2-10 3Pt, 13-16 FT), five rebounds, 10 assists and four steals across 34 minutes during Tuesday's 140-126 win over Utah.
Although James stole the headlines with his season debut, Doncic continued his torrid run of production and recorded his eighth double-double. Doncic was also a threat on defense, collecting four steals to match his second-highest scoring total of the season. Despite the supreme stat line, he coughed up the ball eight times in the loss, which marked his worst showing of the season in that category.

Lakers' LeBron James: Sets records in season debut
James (sciatica) logged 11 points (4-7 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 1-4 FT), 12 assists, three rebounds and one steal across 30 minutes in Tuesday's 140-126 win over Utah.
After having dealt with sciatica on his right side since shortly before the start of training camp and missing the Lakers' first 14 games, James was cleared to make his season debut when he experienced no lingering effects of the injury following a full practice Monday. In so doing, James became the first player in NBA history to play in a 23rd season. He then moved up the all-time leaderboard in another category as the game unfolded, with his pair of triples on the night allowing him to surpass Reggie Miller for sixth place in career three-pointers made. Though the 40-year-old may still be subject to some occasional rest days -- particularly for one half of back-to-back sets -- as he works to regain his full conditioning, James should be ready to take on at least a couple extra minutes in the Lakers' next game, a rematch with Utah on Sunday.

Lakers' Jake LaRavia: Headed to bench
LaRavia will come off the bench for Tuesday's game versus the Jazz, Jovan Buha of The Athletic reports.
LaRavia started Saturday's win over Milwaukee with a lot of the Lakers' forwards sidelined, but the team will have everyone available for Tuesday's game, which will likely result in fewer minutes for LaRavia. Through eight games as a reserve this season, LaRavia has posted averages of 9.6 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.6 steals per contest.

Lakers' Bronny James: Back to bench Tuesday
James is not in the Lakers' starting lineup against the Jazz on Tuesday, Jovan Buha of The Athletic reports.
James made his first start of the season in Saturday's win over the Bucks, but he logged just 10 minutes and posted zero points, one rebound, one assist and one steal. He and Jake LaRavia will revert to the bench for Tuesday's contest while Rui Hachimura (calf) returns from a one-game absence and LeBron James (sciatica) makes his 2025-26 regular-season debut.

Lakers' LeBron James: Will play Tuesday
James (sciatica) will play in Tuesday's game against the Jazz, NBA reporter Chris Haynes reports.
James will make his season debut after missing nearly the first month of the season due to sciatica on his right side. It wouldn't be surprising to see the superstar forward operate under a minutes restriction, and his return could mean fewer minutes for Jarred Vanderbilt, Dalton Knecht and Jake LaRavia. James has continued to play at an elite level in the latter stages of his career, and over 70 regular-season appearances in 2024-25, the 40-year-old averaged 24.4 points, 8.2 assists, 7.8 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 34.9 minutes per game.

Lakers' LeBron James: Expected to play Tuesday
James (sciatica) remains listed as questionable but is aiming to make his season debut Tuesday against the Jazz, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
The Lakers called James a game-time decision following morning shootaround, but after he avoided any setbacks coming out of the workout, he now appears to be trending toward making his season debut Tuesday. Fantasy managers planning on activating James for Tuesday will want to confirm that he's included in the lineup ahead of the 10:30 p.m. ET tipoff, and some restrictions with his minutes should be expected if he gets the green light to play.

Lakers' LeBron James: Remains game-time call
James (back) remains a game-time call Tuesday against the Jazz, Dan Woike of The Athletic reports.
James participated in the morning shootaround, but he's still listed as questionable on the official injury report. Presumably, he will warm up and see how he feels before a final decision is made. If he gets the green light to return, James is likely to have restrictions during his season debut.

Lakers' Gabe Vincent: Available for Tuesday
Vincent (ankle) is available for Tuesday's game against the Jazz, Daniel Starkand of LakersNation.com reports.
Tuesday is set to be Vincent's first appearance since Oct. 26 in Sacramento. The veteran guard is in line to play a reserve role in the Lakers' backcourt, likely leaving him with minimal fantasy appeal. For the year, Vincent has averaged 3.7 points, 2.3 assists, 1.0 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 24.0 minutes per game over three outings.
