Bada hurt his Achilles during the Lions' preseason opener versus the Giants and wasn't able to return to action during the exhibition slate. He was waived with an injury designation Tuesday and subsequently cleared waivers. Bada will miss the entire 2024 campaign unless he reaches an injury settlement with Detroit.

Bada suffered the injury in Detroit's preseason opener against the Giants on Aug. 8 and has remained sidelined since. The injury certainly derailed the 29-year-old's chances of making the team out of camp. He should revert to IR once he clears waivers.

Lions' David Bada: Suffers Achilles injury
Bada suffered an Achilles injury in Thursday night's preseason loss to the Giants, Justin Rogers of DetroitFootball.net reports.
Bada couldn't put any weight on his leg after the injury, and Rogers suspects it's a long-term issue. Bada appeared in two games for the Commanders in 2022 before spending all of last season on injured reserve with an arm injury. He signed with the Lions last month and was trying to compete for a roster spot.

Bada had surgery recently to repair his torn triceps, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
Bada suffered the injury during practice Aug. 3 and was placed on injured reserve last Thursday, and he'll miss the entirety of the 2023 campaign unless he reaches an injury settlement with the team. Even if that happens, his recovery time will likely make it difficult for him to take the field before the season is over.

The defensive tackle suffered a torn tricep during practice Wednesday. Bada spent the past three seasons on Washington's practice squad and has two career tackles. Given the timing of his placement on injured reserve, the fourth-year pro would have to be waived or reach an injury settlement in order to suit up in 2023.
