Cowboys' Perrion Winfrey: Gets activated from IR
Dallas activated Winfrey (back) from its injured reserve list Tuesday, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
Winfrey has missed the whole season to this point due to a back injury he suffered during practice ahead of Week 1, but he's now back in football shape after Week 11. If veteran Solomon Thomas continues to miss time with a calf injury, Winfrey could be in line for some of the leftover work at defensive tackle in Week 12 versus the Eagles.

Cowboys' Perrion Winfrey: Ruled out for Week 9
Winfrey (back) has been ruled out ahead of Monday's game against the Cowboys, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
Winfrey has yet to play this season after sustaining a back injury in late August. The 2022 fourth-round pick's 21-day practice window was opened Wednesday, and he will stay on the injured reserve through Monday's contest. Winfrey's next chance to return to the field will come during Week 11, when the Cowboys challenge the Raiders on Monday Night Football.

The 2022 fourth-round pick from Oklahoma has yet to play this season after sustaining a back injury in late August. Following his return to practice Wednesday, Winfree has 21 days to be added to Dallas' active roster before reverting to IR. He's expected to play a depth role on the Cowboys' defensive line once fully healthy.

Winfrey suffered a lower back injury at practice Aug. 31, and he will now be forced to miss the team's regular-season opener in Philadelphia. In his absence, Jay Toia and Solomon Thomas could see an increase in workload at defensive tackle in Week 1.

Winfrey exited Sunday's practice with a lower back injury, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
Winfrey had to be helped off the practice field early during the practice session Sunday. The 25-year-old was able to make Dallas' 53-man roster following a strong training camp, and he's slated to work in a rotational role along the team's defensive line if he's able to move past the back injury.

Winfrey was one of the standout performers for the Cowboys at Tuesday's joint practice with the Rams, Tommy Yarrish of the team's website reports.
Signed in June after earning All-UFL honors with Birmingham this spring, Winfrey beat a double team to stuff Kyren Williams for a loss in the backfield during a red-zone drill. Osa Odighizuwa, Mazi Smith (knee) and Solomon Thomas are expected to be the primary members of the rotation at defensive tackle for Dallas, but Winfrey's making a case to carve out a role as well.

Cowboys' Perrion Winfrey: Signs with Dallas
The Cowboys signed Winfrey (ankle) on Monday.
Winfrey entered the NFL as a fourth-round pick by the Browns in 2022, and he appeared in 13 regular-season games as a rookie. He was cut the following summer and played in one game for the Jets in 2023 before spending the 2024 campaign out of the league. Winfrey played in the UFL with the Birmingham Stallions this spring and recently was named to the All-UFL Team. It was enough to earn Winfrey another chance to prove himself with an NFL club.

Head coach Robert Saleh told reporters after Sunday's 13-8 loss to the Falcons that the foot injury Winfrey sustained is "really bad" and that the defensive tackle is probably done for the season, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
Winfrey sustained the ankle injury on a Falcons' field goal attempt. He had his right leg stabilized in a cast and was surrounded by teammates before being carted off the field. It was Winfrey's first game of the season and seems to be his last, as he finished Sunday's contest with three tackles.
