Jones (hamstring) was placed on injured reserve Saturday.
Jones was already ruled out for Sunday's game versus the Broncos, and now he's guaranteed to miss four games, meaning his first return date will be Oct. 12 versus the Cardinals. Fellow cornerback Charvarius Ward (concussion) has also been ruled out, so Mekhi Blackmon is expected to start at cornerback opposite Xavien Howard while Johnathan Edwards and Chris Lammons mix in Week 2.

Jones injured his hamstring in the Colts' Week 1 win over the Dolphins after playing just six snaps on special teams. With both Charvarius Ward (concussion) and Jones out, however, the Colts' cornerback depth will be tested behind Xavien Howard and slot corner Kenny Moore.

Jones was one of four players on the Colts' defense to record 100-plus tackles this season, starting all 17 of the team's games. The second-year pro from Texas A&M has now started 27 of the 34 regular-season contests he's appeared in, leading Indianapolis in passes defended and tying for second in interceptions in 2024. With two years remaining on his rookie contract, Jones is expected remain with the Colts in 2025. The 22-year-old is likely to remain continue serving as one of Indianapolis' top outside cornerbacks next season after an impressive 2024 campaign.
