Texans' Xavier Hutchinson: Reaches paydirt twice
Hutchinson caught all three of his targets for 18 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 44-10 win over the Ravens in Week 5.
Hutchinson had gone 36 games into his NFL career without reaching pay dirt prior to Sunday's two-TD outburst. Noted for his hard work and willingness to do the dirty job of blocking, Hutchinson was rewarded with three red-zone looks in the win. He now has 12 receptions, tying his career high set last year, for 110 yards through five games. His place in the Texans offense was uncertain after the team drafted two wide receivers in the 2025 NFL Draft, but he's maintained a high volume of playing time, as his 205 snaps (64.9 percent share) are second only to Nico Collins (252, 79.7 percent).

Texans' Xavier Hutchinson: Stable output in win
Hutchinson caught two of three targets for 17 yards in Sunday's 26-0 win over the Titans in Week 4.
Hutchinson's production remained stable for a fourth week; he's logged two or three targets while catching two or three passes in all four games. That small but steady volume hasn't led to much production however, as he has yet to top 30 yards in 2025. He never gained more than 31 yards in a game during the regular season in 2024 either, and rookie Jayden Higgins appears close to surpassing him on the depth chart.

Texans' Xavier Hutchinson: Maintains limited role
Hutchinson caught all three of his targets for 16 yards in Sunday's 17-10 loss to Jacksonville.
Hutchinson's playing time was not impacted by the season debut of Christian Kirk, who missed Weeks 1 and 2 due to hamstring injury. While Hutchinson's snap volume remains healthy -- 61.9 percent Sunday, 62.9 for the season -- he's not a high-priority option for C.J. Stroud. Through three games, the wideout has seven receptions on eight targets for 75 yards.

Texans' Xavier Hutchinson: Two grabs in MNF loss
Hutchinson caught two of three targets for 29 yards in Monday's 20-19 loss to the Buccaneers.
The third-year receiver's three targets were more than rookies Jayden Higgins (one) and Jaylin Noel (zero) combined. Hutchinson sees plenty of playing time -- 63.4 percent of the snaps, second at WR behind Nico Collins -- but he hasn't made a significant fantasy contribution in 2025. That was also the case last season -- substantial playing time (49.7 percent) with little production (12 catches). With Christian Kirk (hamstring) sidelined, there's a mix of players angling for targets after Collins, but if Kirk can get on the field for Week 3, then Hutchinson should see a reduced role.

Texans' Xavier Hutchinson: Two catches in loss
Hutchinson caught two of two targets for 30 yards and ran the ball once for another five yards in Sunday's 14-9 loss to the Rams.
Hutchinson benefitted from the absences of Christian Kirk (hamstring) and Braxton Berrios (hamstring) and played 43 offensive snaps (68 percent). That was second most on the club behind Nico Collins (53) and more than the two wideouts selected in the second and third rounds of the 2025 NFL Draft -- Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel. It's hard to take anything definitive away from the season opener, when Houston's offense and quarterback C.J. Stroud were not operating at peak efficiency. So, good for Hutchinson that he was on the field often, but there were times in 2024 when he was given starter-level snaps, but it rarely panned out to be fantasy gold.

Texans' Xavier Hutchinson: Could see added snaps Sunday
Hutchinson could be a candidate to get starter-level snaps in Sunday's season opener versus the Rams, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Per Rapoport, the 2023 sixth-rounder has impressed behind the scenes, and with Christian Kirk (hamstring) sidelined, the snaps that don't go to top pass catcher Nico Collins are up for grabs. In that context, Hutchinson, along with rookie wideouts Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel, should have added opportunities Sunday. The Texans' Week 1 snap counts will thus be telling, but Hutchinson is a player to monitor, especially if Kirk misses additional time.

Texans' Xavier Hutchinson: Expected to earn roster spot
Hutchinson is on the Texans' initial 53-man roster projection, per DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN.com.
Hutchinson finished out the preseason Saturday, snagging his lone target for 24 yards while working with the first-team offense on Houston's first series. His path to the roster was made a lot clearer when the Texans traded John Metchie to the Eagles earlier in camp. Hutchinson is expected to fill a depth role, possibly behind one or both of the wideouts the Texans drafted in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Texans' Xavier Hutchinson: Makes four catches against KC
Hutchinson caught four of six targets for 52 yards in Saturday's 23-14 divisional-round loss to Kansas City. He added 56 yards on two kickoff returns.
The second-year wideout put together a career-best game in a losing effort, working as the Texans' No. 2 WR behind Nico Collins, while John Metchie saw only two targets but caught them both for 35 yards. Hutchinson, a sixth-round pick in 2023, managed only a 12-117-0 line on 26 targets over 16 regular-season games, but his ability to contribute on special teams should give him a leg up in the battle for a depth receiver role in 2025, even if Houston adds reinforcements at the position in free agency or the draft.

Texans' Xavier Hutchinson: Key catch in playoff win
Hutchinson caught his lone target for 34 yards in Saturday's 32-12 win over the Chargers in the wild-card round.
The one target was on brand for Hutchinson, but the catch turned out to be a game-changing event. Houston's offense was somnambulant over its first five possessions until quarterback C.J. Stroud found Hutchinson on a third-and-16 to extend a drive. That jump-started the Texans, who went on to score a touchdown and take a 7-6 lead. Hutchinson is locked in at fourth on the depth chart as the Texans prepare for the divisional round, when they face the Chiefs.

Texans' Xavier Hutchinson: One grab in Week 18
Hutchinson caught one of two targets for five yards in Sunday's 23-14 win over Tennessee.
With Houston in playoff-preparation mode and John Metchie placed in the concussion protocol during the game, Hutchinson was allotted a position-high 48 snaps in the regular-season finale. Hutchinson's role in next Saturday's home playoff game against the Chargers could depend on Metchie's status.

Texans' Xavier Hutchinson: Four targets in loss
Hutchinson caught two of four targets in Wednesday's 31-2 loss to the Ravens in Week 17.
Hutchinson, who was given his most targets in five games, experienced an uptick in snap count (39) due to Tank Dell (knee) joining Stefon Diggs (knee) on injured reserve. Hutchinson, John Metchie, Jared Wayne and Robert Woods filled out the depth chart behind No. 1 wideout Nico Collins.
