Cam Smith: Gets waived by Miami
The Dolphins waived Smith (undisclosed) from their reserve/non-football illness list Tuesday.
Smith was placed on Miami's reserve/non-football illness list before the start of the regular season with an unspecified ailment, and it's still not clear where he's at in his recovery. Assuming he's not claimed by another team during the current waiver period, he's on track to become a free agent.

Dolphins' Cam Smith: Placed on NFI list
Smith (undisclosed) was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list Wednesday, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports.
Smith will be forced to miss at least four contests while recovering from an undisclosed injury. In his absence, Jack Jones and JuJu Brents are two candidates to see an increase in workload at cornerback.

Dolphins' Cam Smith: Seeing action in OTAs
Smith (shoulder) has been a participant during the Dolphins' offseason training activities, Chris Perkins of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Smith missed Miami's final five games last season after landing on IR due to a shoulder injury. The South Carolina product also began the campaign on injured reserve due to a hamstring issue, so health will be a big priority for the cornerback this year. Smith worked in a rotational role and contributed on special teams when he was able to play last season, and he figures to take on a similar role in 2025.

Dolphins' Cam Smith: Struggles in Year 2
Smith (shoulder) who ended the 2024 campaign on IR, tallied just 16 tackles (13 solo) across six regular-season appearances.
Smith began the year on IR due to a hamstring injury sustained back in July, then had his season come to an early end due to a dislocated left shoulder. The 2023 second-round pick will work to get fully healthy and progress in his development this offseason, but it's difficult to imagine him carving out more than a rotational role at cornerback for the 2025 campaign.

Dolphins' Cam Smith: Goes to IR
Miami placed Smith (shoulder) on its injured reserve list Wednesday.
Smith suffered a dislocated left shoulder in Week 13 at Green Bay, and now he'll have to sit out for at least the next four games as he recovers. His absence figures to open up more opportunities for veteran Siran Neal on the boundaries.

Dolphins' Cam Smith: Dislocates left shoulder
Smith suffered a left dislocated shoulder in Thursday's 30-17 loss to the Packers, head coach Mike McDaniel confirmed to Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com.
There's no timetable for Smith's return, though McDaniel confirmed the cornerback was in significant pain following Thursday's loss. Smith's next chance to play will come against the Jets on Sunday, Dec. 8, though it's uncertain if he'll recover in time for that matchup. If he's unable to go, then Storm Duck and Siran Neal will be candidates for increased snaps, though Kendall Fuller (concussion) will be the primary option if he gains clearance for that contest.

Dolphins' Cam Smith: Questionable due to shoulder injury
Smith is questionable to return to Thursday's game against the Packers due to a shoulder injury.
Smith headed to the locker room late in the second quarter, and losing him would make a forgettable half for the Dolphins even worse. If Smith is unable to return, Miami's depth at cornerback could be seriously tested in the second half considering Kader Kohou (back) is also uncertain to play in the remainder of Thursday's game.

Dolphins' Cam Smith: Downgraded to out
Smith (shoulder) has been downgraded to out and won't return to Thursday's game against the Packers.
Smith departed the contest in the second quarter and won't return, meaning the Dolphins' depth in the secondary will be tested throughout the rest of the game. Smith's next chance to play will come against the Jets on Sunday, Dec. 8, though it's uncertain if he'll recover in time for that matchup.

Dolphins' Cam Smith: Officially off IR
The Dolphins activated Smith (hamstring) off injured reserve Monday, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports.
Smith has yet to play for the Dolphins this season after sustaining a hamstring injury in late July. However, Monday's activation to Miami's active roster suggests he's completely past the issue. Expect the 2023 second-round pick to serve as a rotational cornerback in the Dolphins' Week 8 matchup against the Cardinals.
