  • Colts' Spencer Shrader: Heads to IR

The Colts placed Shrader (knee) on injured reserve Tuesday, Amanda Foster of the Colts' official site reports.

His move to IR opens up room on the 53-man roster for Michael Badgley, whom the Colts signed to step in as their new kicker in place of Shrader, who will miss the rest of the season after suffering ACL and MCL tears to his right knee in Sunday's 40-6 win over the Raiders. The Notre Dame product had gotten off to an excellent start to the season, converting 13 of 14 field-goal attempts and 14 of 14 extra-point tries en route to an NFL-leading 53 points through the first five weeks. Shrader is under contract through 2026 and should have the inside track on the kicking job heading into next season if he's able to bounce back well from knee surgery.

  • Colts' Spencer Shrader: Diagnosed with torn ACL and MCL

Coach Shane Steichen confirmed Monday that Shrader will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a torn ACL and MCL in his right knee in Sunday's win over the Raiders, Stephen Holder of ESPN.com reports.

It's a tough blow for Shrader, who had finally been making his way in the NFL as a consistent kicker after winning the Colts' job this past summer. The Colts now will need to look outside the organization for a new kicker since they don't currently employ one on the practice squad. Shrader's season ends with him making 13 of 14 field-goal attempts and all 14 extra-point tries.

  • Colts' Spencer Shrader: Suffers season-ending knee injury

Shrader is believed to have suffered a season-ending knee injury in Sunday's win over the Raiders, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Shrader was injured on an extra-point attempt when a Las Vegas player collided with his right knee, and he's believed to have suffered multiple torn ligaments, per Joel A. Erickson of The Indianapolis Star. The Colts now will be in the market for a new kicker. If Shrader's season is indeed over, he'll finish the 2025 campaign having made 13 of 14 field-goal tries and all 14 of his extra-point attempts.

  • Colts' Spencer Shrader: Unlikely to return with knee injury

Shrader is doubtful to return to Sunday's game against the Raiders due to a right knee injury, Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan Indianapolis report.

Shrader suffered the injury on an extra-point attempt in the second quarter, when Tristin McCollum ran into his right knee. Shrader was slow to walk off the field, and the Colts will seemingly be without a place kicker for the rest of the game, which would necessitate the offense to go for two-point conversions for the rest of Sunday's game.

  • Colts' Spencer Shrader: Makes every kick Sunday

Shrader hit both of his field goals and both of his extra-point attempts in Sunday's 27-20 loss to the Rams.

The kicker drilled a 52-yarder in the first quarter and a 38-yarder in the fourth. Shrader has now made 13 of 14 field goals and all 12 extra-point tries in 2025. The Colts host the struggling Raiders next Sunday, which should give Shrader plenty of scoring opportunities.

  • Colts' Spencer Shrader: Another productive day

Shrader made two of three field goals and all five of his extra-point attempts in Sunday's 41-20 win over the Titans.

Indy's kicker recorded double-digit points for the third time in three games this season. Shrader is now 11 of 12 on field goals and 10 of 10 on extra points in 2025.

  • Colts' Spencer Shrader: Kicks Indy to victory

Shrader drilled all five of his field-goal attempts and both of his extra-point tries in the Colts' 29-28 win over the Broncos on Sunday.

Shrader accounted for 17 of the Colts' 29 points in this one, making a 29-yard field goal to start off the scoring in the first quarter, followed by makes from 33, 36, 28 and 45. His 45-yard make won the game as time expired in the fourth quarter. On the season, Shrader has made all nine of his field goals and all five of his extra points.

  • Colts' Spencer Shrader: Posts big line in Week 1

Shrader went 4-for-4 on field-goal attempts while making all three of his extra-point tries in the Colts' 33-8 win over the Dolphins on Sunday.

Shrader got the scoring started in this one with a four-yard field goal in the first quarter. He also made kicks from 35, 28 and 48 yards, as the Colts rolled the Dolphins. Shrader beat out Maddux Trujillo for Indianapolis' kicking job over the summer.

  • Colts' Spencer Shrader: Likely clinched placekicking job

Shrader took all the kicks in Saturday's preseason game, which likely means he's won the starting job, the Indianapolis Star reports. He made all four field-goal attempts, including a 56-yarder, and converted his lone extra-point attempt.

Maddux Trujillo is expected to get all kicking opportunities in the final preseason game. Shrader has been seen as ahead in the kicking competition throughout training camp.

  • Colts' Spencer Shrader: Solid performance in preseason loss

Shrader made three of four field-goal attempts in Thursday's preseason loss at Baltimore. He missed a 52-yard attempt.

Shrader was seen as having a significant lead over Maddux Trujillo for the placekicking job in training camp, and Thursday's game should help his cause. Trujillo may get more of an opportunity in the next preseason game (he converted his only extra-point attempt in Thursday's game).

  • Colts' Spencer Shrader: Well ahead of Trujillo

Shrader has opened up a clear lead over Maddux Trujillo in the Colts' kicking competition, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.

Shrader has been far more accurate in camp, though he missed a long field-goal attempt in the final two-minute drill of a joint practice with Baltimore on Tuesday. While Trujillo doesn't appear to be a serious contender to win the job over Shrader, Boyd believes the Colts could add another kicker if Shrader struggles in the preseason, which begins for the Colts with a road game in Baltimore on Thursday.
