Ismail was replaced by veteran TE Jordan Akins on the practice squad. With Brenton Strange (IR, quadriceps) and Quintin Morris (groin) banged up and out for Week 7, the Jaguars likely wanted a more experienced tight end behind Hunter Long and Johnny Mundt.

After the Jaguars sent regular starting tight end Brenton Strange to their injured reserve list with a quadriceps injury Tuesday, it made some sense for them to add some organizational depth at that position. Ismail spent most of the 2024 season on Baltimore's practice squad after signing with the team as an undrafted free agent out of Samford.

The Giants signed Ismail to their practice squad Thursday, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.
Ismail spent training camp with Las Vegas but didn't make the team's initial 53-man roster. He's subsequently getting a look from the Giants, who have a pretty full tight-end room consisting of Theo Johnson, Daniel Bellinger, Chris Manhertz and Thomas Fidone. Ismail wasn't selected in the 2024 NFL Draft and spent last year on Baltimore's practice squad.

Ismail was waived by the Raiders on Monday.
Ismail signed with the Raiders in April after the spending the 2024 campaign as a member of the Ravens' practice squad. The tight end caught four passes for 42 yards over two preseason contests with Las Vegas. If he goes unclaimed on waivers, Ismail's next opportunity may be with the Raiders' practice squad.
