Chestnut rushed the ball five times for 28 yards and a touchdown in Friday's 23-13 preseason win over the Vikings.
Chestnut drew the first carry of the game but rotated out for the first half of Tennessee's second drive, giving way to Kalel Mullings (ankle). Notably, Chestnut did get the nod at the goal line to cap a Titans' scoring drive with Cameron Ward under center. There are several questions about the running back depth chart heading into Week 1 of the regular season, as both Tyjae Spears (ankle) and Mullings are currently beat up, meaning Chestnut could have a clear path to the backup role to Tony Pollard.

Titans' Julius Chestnut: Starts with Pollard resting
Chestnut started Friday's preseason win over Atlanta, rushing four times for 16 yards while catching his only target for seven receiving yards.
Chestnut got the nod with the first-team offense with Tony Pollard (rest) and Tyjae Spears (ankle) missing Friday's exhibition. The 24-year-old Chestnut was slated to begin the season as the Titans' No. 3 tailback, but the high-ankle sprain Spears suffered last week could push Chestnut up the depth chart. Pollard is healthy and still the clear No. 1 option in Tennessee, so Chestnut's fantasy value wouldn't see a huge boost if he were to start the regular season as the primary backup.

Titans' Julius Chestnut: Facing competition
Chestnut is likely to battle with Kalel Mullings for a roster spot during training camp, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
Chestnut has been with the Titans for three seasons, though he had his most extensive involvement in 2024. That came primarily via special teams, which could help him in his competition with Mullings this summer. Wyatt projects that the Titans will carry three backs on the roster with one more on the practice squad, so Chestnut could stick around even if he isn't on the active roster.

Chestnut agreed Wednesday with the Titans on a one-year deal, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
The Sacred Heart product has inked a deal to return to Tennessee after taking 22 carries for 102 yards and catching two of his three targets for 11 yards across 17 games in 2024. Additionally, Chestnut played 225 special-teams snaps and tallied 337 kick-return yards. He's expected to play a similar role in 2025.

Titans' Julius Chestnut: Could be part of committee Week 18
Titans head coach Brian Callahan said Wednesday that Chestnut could be part of a backfield committee in Sunday's game against the Texans along with Joshua Kelley and practice-squad member Jabari Small, Turron Davenport of ESPN.com reports.
Tyjae Spears (concussion) appears unlikely to play in the season finale, while starter Tony Pollard (ankle) sat out the Week 17 loss to the Jaguars and remains a limited participant in practice to begin Week 18 prep. Pollard could have extra motivation to try to play Sunday, as he's within reach of a few contract performance incentives. However, if Pollard and Spears are both sidelined Sunday, Chestnut would be the next man up, though he wouldn't necessarily take on a starter's workload if he does end up taking the Titans' first snap of the day. Chestnut has seen most of his playing time on special teams this season and has carried 20 times for 91 yards (4.6 YPC) to go with two catches for 11 yards on three targets over 16 appearances.
