Lions' Juice Scruggs: Dealt to Detroit
The Texans agreed to terms Monday on a trade that will send Scruggs, a fourth-round pick and a seventh-round pick to the Lions in exchange for running back David Montgomery, Dianna Russini of The Athletic reports.
Scruggs suited up for all 17 regular-season games (one start) with Houston in 2025 but struggled in that span, making it unlikely that Detroit plans for him to play more than a depth role. The 2023 second-round pick has experience at both center and guard, so at the very least he stands to provide the Lions with versatility along the interior O-line.

Texans' Juice Scruggs: Ready to rock
Scruggs (foot) has no injury designation ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Titans.
Scruggs opened the Texans' week of practice with consecutive limited sessions after missing the team's last four games due to a foot injury. However, he upgraded to full participation Friday, suggesting he's moved past the issue in time to play Sunday. With Scruggs back at full health, he's expected to serve as Houston's top reserve center in Week 18.

Texans' Juice Scruggs: Out Week 15, as expected

Texans' Juice Scruggs: Sidelined for weeks
Scruggs is expected to a minimum of two games after sustaining a foot injury in the Texans' Week 13 win over the Jaguars, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Despite Houston's Week 14 bye, Scruggs is expected to be sidelined for the immediate future. Kendrick Green or Nick Broeker will likely serve as the Texans' starting left guard over the next couple games in Scruggs' stead.

Texans' Juice Scruggs: Moving to guard
Scruggs will move from center to guard for Sunday's game against Detroit, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Scruggs, who is normally the starter at center, will replace guard Kenyon Green (shoulder), who was placed on injured reserve. Jarrett Patterson will step in for Scruggs. The injury to Green highlights a need for the offensive line to better protect quarterback C.J. Stroud, who was sacked eight times and absorbed another 11 hits in last week's loss to the Jets. Stroud has been taken down 30 times this season, second most in the NFL behind Cleveland's Deshaun Watson (33). Having Scruggs operate at guard, where he played during his rookie 2023 season, allows him to focus on his blocking assignment without the need to make line calls on protection adjustments.
