Mordecai signed with the 49ers on Thursday.
Mordecai has bounced on and off the 49ers' roster this preseason but rejoins the team after Mac Jones (knee) was ruled out for the preseason finale. Mordecai will almost certainly not make the roster as final cutdowns occur, but he is a candidate for the practice squad.

Tanner Mordecai: Let go by San Francisco
The 49ers waived Mordecai on Monday.
Mordecai was signed to the 49ers' training camp roster Friday and played in the fourth quarter of Saturday's preseason game against the Broncos, completing three of six pass attempts for 21 yards and an interception while rushing for 15 yards on his lone carry. Assuming he clears waivers, Mordecai will look to catch on with a team in need of preseason depth at quarterback.

49ers' Tanner Mordecai: Back in Bay Area
The 49ers signed Mordecai to a contract Friday, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Mordecai will take the spot on the 49ers' training camp roster vacated by Equanimeous St. Brown (foot), who was placed on injured reserve. Mordecai is a longshot to make the 49ers' 53-man roster at the end of training camp. However, with Kurtis Rourke (knee) sidelined, Mordecai would have the opportunity to audition for a spot on the practice squad if he sees playing time as the third-string quarterback behind Mac Jones and Carter Bradley on Saturday against the Broncos if Brock Purdy doesn't play.

Tanner Mordecai: Let go by SF
Mordecai was waived by the 49ers on Monday, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
The 49ers are parting ways with Mordecai four days after signing quarterback Carter Bradley to a one-year contract. Mordecai had been part of the organization since signing with San Francisco as an undrafted free agent in May of 2024. He will be free to sign with any team if he passes through waivers unclaimed.

The 49ers signed Mordecai to a reserve/future contract Monday.
Mordecai signed with San Francisco as an undrafted free agent in May, and after being waived near the end of training camp, latched on with the team's practice squad in August. He remained there throughout the campaign, and the organization liked what they saw from him enough to keep him around through the offseason. Mordecai will have a chance to compete for a spot on the active roster during training camp this summer.

Tanner Mordecai: Staying with San Francisco
The 49ers signed Mordecai to their practice squad Wednesday, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Mordecai was able to show enough potential throughout training camp and the preseason to earn a spot on San Francisco's practice squad. While it's unlikely the rookie undrafted free agent sees any playing time, he will still serve as an insurance if either Brock Purdy, Brandon Allen or Joshua Dobbs get hurt.

Mordecai was waived by the 49ers on Tuesday, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Mordecai signed with San Francisco as an undrafted free agent in May. Ultimately, he was unable to push past Joshua Dobbs and Brandon Allen to earn a spot on the 49ers' final depth chart behind starter Brock Purdy.
