Trent Pennix: Gets let go
Pennix was cut from the Colts' practice squad Monday.
Pennix has been in and out of Indianapolis since the team signed him as an undrafted free agent out of NC State in May. It wouldn't be surprising if the 24-year-old received another opportunity with the franchise at some point this season.

Trent Pennix: Let go from practice squad
The Colts cut Pennix from the practice squad Saturday.
Pennix signed with the Colts' practice squad Oct. 1. Although Jonathan Taylor (ankle) has been ruled out for Week 5 against the Jaguars due to a mild high-ankle sprain, the Colts have opted to elevate Evan Hull from the practice squad to the active roster to serve as the No. 3 running back behind Trey Sermon and Tyler Goodson. Once he clears waivers, Pennix will explore his options and look to catch on with a team in need of backfield depth. The move corresponds with Indianapolis signing corner Alex Johnson to the practice squad.

Trent Pennix: Back with Indy
The Colts signed Pennix (groin) to the practice squad Tuesday.
Adding Pennix to the practice squad gives the Colts some backfield insurance after top running back Jonathan Taylor suffered a mild high-ankle sprain during Sunday's 27-24 win over the Steelers. Pennix signed with Indianapolis as an undrafted free agent in May, but he was let go with an injury settlement in mid-August after injuring his groin during the preseason. If Pennix does get called up to the active roster due to Taylor being sidelined, the former would serve as the Colts' No. 3 running back behind Trey Sermon and Tyler Goodson.

Trent Pennix: Reaches injury settlement
Indianapolis waived Pennix (groin) from its injured reserve list with an injury settlement Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
The agreement means that Pennix is technically eligible to return at some point during the 2024 season if he can shake his groin issue. His departure should open up additional practice reps for Demetric Felton.
