Cowboys' DeMarvion Overshown: Officially ruled out for Week 9
Overshown (knee) has been ruled out ahead of Monday's game against the Cardinals, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
It was previously reported that Overshown is in line to make his season debut in Week 11 after recovering from a very serious knee injury. He practiced in limited capacity throughout the week, but he has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Cardinals, as expected.

Cowboys' DeMarvion Overshown: On track to return Week 11
Overshown (knee/thumb) is expected to be activated off the Cowboys' reserve/PUP list ahead of their Week 11 game against the Raiders on Monday, Nov. 17, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
In addition to his knee injury, Machota relays that Overshown dislocated this thumb during Thursday's practice, though the thumb injury isn't considered serious. Overshown continues to rehab from a torn ACL, MCL and PCL that he suffered in December, which caused him to start the 2025 regular season on the PUP list. He won't be available to play against the Cardinals on Sunday but is on track to return following the Cowboys' Week 10 bye.

Cowboys' DeMarvion Overshown: Limited in Thursday's practice
Overshown (knee) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
Machota relays that Overshown was tagged as limited after briefly leaving Thursday's practice before returning later in the session. The third-year linebacker continues to rehab from torn a ACL, MCL and PCL that he sustained in December and has spent the first half of the 2025 regular season on the reserve/PUP list. His 21-day practice window opened Oct. 22, and he would likely have to log full practices before being activated from the reserve/PUP list.

Cowboys' DeMarvion Overshown: Believes he's more explosive
Overshown said this week that his athletic testing numbers are actually better than they were prior to last year's knee surgery, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports. "Stronger, faster, can jump higher, more explosive," the linebacker said. "You name it, I'm all of it. My game is not going to slow down."
The 2023 third-round pick has had trouble staying healthy in his NFL career, as surgeries on each knee have limited him to just 13 regular-season contests, all of them coming in 2024. Overshown was incredibly productive when on the field though, racking up 90 tackles (56 solo) including 5.0 sacks and recording four passes defended, one of which he turned into a 23-yard interception return for a touchdown in a Thanksgiving win over the Giants. He's not expected to make his 2025 debut until Week 11 against the Raiders, another prime time game on Monday Night Football, but Overshown figures to make an immediate IDP impact when he does in Matt Eberflus' very LB-friendly defensive scheme.

Cowboys' DeMarvion Overshown: Won't return in Week 8
Overshown (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's matchup against Denver, Patrik Walker of the Cowboys' official site reports.
Overshown was designated to return from the reserve/PUP list Wednesday and logged a trio of limited practices this week. However, he's not ready to make his season debut and may not do so until utilizing his entire 21-day practice window. That would put the target date for his season debut Monday, Nov. 17 in Week 11 against Las Vegas, following Dallas' Week 10 bye.

The Texas product recorded 90 total tackles, including 5.0 sacks, and four passes defended in just 13 regular-season contests last season. Cowboys' DeMarvion Overshown: Practice window opening soon
Overshown (knee) is expected to return to Cowboys' practice later this week, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
The third-year pro from Texas remains on the reserve/PUP list as he continues to work his way back from a torn ACL, MCL and PCL sustained last season. However, his 21-day practice window is expected to be opened later this week, with hopes that he can return for Dallas' Week 11 matchup against the Raiders. Once Overshown returns to full health, he's likely to operate as one of the Cowboys' starting inside linebackers.

Cowboys' DeMarvion Overshown: Return in play after bye
Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said Wednesday that Overshown (knee) could return Week 11 versus the Raiders, after Dallas' bye, Todd Archer of ESPN reports.
Overshown remains on the reserve/PUP list while working his way back from a torn ACL, MCL and PCL in his right knee suffered last December. Early in the regular season, Overshown said that he anticipated returning to action before Thanksgiving, a timetable that seems to still be realistic. Once cleared to retake the field, Overshown's presence will provide a notable boost for the Cowboys' defense, which has struggled significantly to open the 2025 campaign.

Cowboys' DeMarvion Overshown: Could return before Thanksgiving
Overshown told reporters Monday that he's "feeling good" about his recovery from a from a severe injury from the 2024 season and noted, "I feel like I'll be playing football before Thanksgiving with the team," Joe Hoyt of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Overshown started the season on the active/PUP list while recovering from a torn ACL, MCL and PCL that he suffered in December. He's unlikely to be available to return when first eligible (Week 5 against the Jets on Sunday, Oct. 5), but a mid-November return is in the cards for the 2023 third-rounder. Damone Clark and Marist Liufau will continue to see snaps at linebacker for as long as Overshown is sidelined.

Cowboys' DeMarvion Overshown: Out first four games, at minimum
The Cowboys placed Overshown (ACL) on the reserve/PUP list Tuesday.
Overshown will have to miss at least the first four games of the regular season as a result of the transaction, making him eligible to return Week 5 against the Jets on Oct. 5 at the earliest. The 2023 third-round pick is working his way back from a right knee injury suffered Week 14 of last season, when he tore his ACL, MCL and PCL, so it wouldn't be surprising if he requires longer than the four-game minimum to get healthy.
