Eagles' Tanner McKee: Diagnosed with fractured thumb
McKee is dealing with a fractured thumb and may not be ready for Week 1 of the regular season, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Though McKee's injury brings his availability for the beginning of the regular season into question, Rapoport notes that the issue isn't major, adding that the fracture is to "just the top of the thumb." Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports that the quarterback suffered the injury during practice and agrees that it's not expected to be a long-term issue. The Eagles traded for Sam Howell in a deal with Minnesota on Sunday, giving them insurance in case McKee does indeed to need to sit out the team's opener Thursday, Sept. 4 against Dallas.

Eagles' Tanner McKee: Expected to fade IR stint
McKee's finger injury is considered minor, and the 2023 sixth-rounder isn't expected to start the regular season on injured reserve, Brooks Kubena of The Athletic reports.
McKee missed the Eagles' last two preseason games due to a finger injury. The injury isn't severe enough for him to miss extended time, but the Eagles' acquisition of Sam Howell from the Vikings on Sunday indicates that McKee is in jeopardy of being sidelined for Week 1 against the Cowboys on Thursday, Sept. 4.

Eagles' Tanner McKee: Status for Week 1 up in the air
Head coach Nick Sirianni told reporters Friday that McKee is "working to get back" from a finger injury that caused him to miss the Eagles' last two preseason games, Zach Berman of The Athletic reports.
With McKee dealing with a finger injury and Jalen Hurts resting, Kyle McCord has handled most of the quarterback snaps over the Eagles' last two preseason games. McKee played well in Philadelphia's preseason opener against Cincinnati, and he is entrenched as the QB2 behind Hurts heading into the regular season. Either McCord or Dorian Thompson-Robinson would step up as the backup for Week 1 against the Cowboys on Thursday, Sept. 4 if McKee is not cleared to play.

McKee is not expected to start Saturday's preseason game against the Browns, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
McKee impressed during Philadelphia's preseason opener against Cincinnati, completing 20 of 25 passes for 252 yards and two scores while also rushing for another touchdown, and he's entrenched as the clear No. 2 quarterback behind Jalen Hurts. Therefore, it seems the Eagles simply don't want to risk exposing him to further full-contact reps Saturday. Instead, Dorian Thompson-Robinson is in line to start under center and split reps with rookie sixth-rounder Kyle McCord. Hurts and McKee will have one last opportunity to suit up for preseason action Friday against the Jets.

Eagles' Tanner McKee: Accounts for three TDs
McKee completed 20 of 25 passes for 252 yards and two touchdowns in Thursday's preseason game against the Bengals, adding a third TD on his lone rush attempt.
He cemented his status as everyone's favorite backup QB, putting up 10 points on the first two drives while leading Philadelphia's second-string offense against Cincinnati's first-string defense. McKee capped of the first series with a fourth-down Tush Push, later throwing a pair of TD passes after both teams had worked further down their depth charts. He's locked in as Philadelphia's No. 2 quarterback, ahead of Dorian Thompson-Robinson and Kyle McCord.
