Dolphins' Julian Hill: Ruled out for Thursday night
Hill (ankle) did not practice Wednesday and is ruled out for Thursday's game against the Ravens, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Hill will miss a second consecutive game due to an ankle injury, the severity of which has also prevented him from practicing in any capacity. With Hill unavailable versus Baltimore, Tanner Conner will be positioned to start at tight end for the Dolphins while Greg Dulcich handles No. 2 duties. Hill's next opportunity to get back on the field will arrive Sunday, Nov. 9 versus the Bills in Week 10.

Hill logged DNPs on Monday's practice estimate and Tuesday's walk-through, so the tight end's apparent absence Wednesday doesn't bode well for his chances of playing Thursday night against the Ravens. Hill did not practice in any capacity en route to being ruled out for Miami's win over the Falcons in Week 8, and he now appears to be trending in the wrong direction for Week 9, given the short turnaround facing the Dolphins ahead of Thursday's home matchup against the Ravens. For any chance of suiting up for Thursday Night Football, Hill will need to resume handling at least limited reps Tuesday and/or Wednesday. With Darren Waller (pectoral) on IR, Tanner Conner and Greg Dulcich will dominate reps at tight end again if Hill is unable to go.

Dolphins' Julian Hill: Climbs up depth chart
Hill is positioned for an expanded workload beginning Sunday on the road against Atlanta with the Dolphins having placed Darren Waller (pectoral) on injured reserve Wednesday.
Hill and Tanner Conner will split tight end reps with Greg Dulcich, who was signed from the practice squad Wednesday, for at least the next four games while Waller works his way back to health. During the first three games of the regular season, Hill and Conner operated without Waller, with neither player managing much receiving production, but the Dolphins are now also without Tyreek Hill (knee - ACL), freeing up a significant amount of targets behind top wideout Jaylen Waddle. As a result, Hill, Conner and Dulcich now all possess limited fantasy appeal in deeper fantasy formats, especially those requiring multiple starting tight ends.

Hill and Tanner Conner (one catch for 28 yards on three targets) both saw increased involvement Sunday with Darren Waller (pectoral) making an early exit, but neither were able to translate that opportunity into notable production due to a miserable showing from Tua Tagovailoa and Miami's passing game. Hill drew the same target total as top tight end Darren Waller (2-12-1) during Sunday's loss. While Waller figures to more consistently see the higher target share at the TE position going forward and dominate high-value looks, Hill has benefited from an increased role the wake of the season-ending injury suffered by Tyreek Hill (IR, knee). That said, Miami's passing game figures to have a tough time producing on the road against the Browns in Week 7.

Hill caught four of five targets for 22 yards in Sunday's 27-24 loss to the Panthers.
Prior to the Week 5 loss, Hill had caught just two of three targets for 23 yards through Miami's first four games. The Campbell product's increase in usage is likely due to Tyreek Hill (knee) being sidelined for the remainder of the season. Although Hill had his best game of the season, he played behind Darren Waller, who posted a 5-78-1 receiving line Sunday. Expect Hill to continue operating as the Dolphins' No. 2 tight end in the Week 6 matchup against the Chargers.

Hill made the most of his lone reception, but it was the two-touchdown debut of veteran Darren Waller that stole headlines at the tight end position. Even if Waller remains sidelined Week 4 versus the Jets, neither Hill nor Conner will warrant significant consideration in fantasy lineups.

Hill drew another start at tight end with Darren Waller (hip) again sidelined, but neither he nor fellow reserve TE Tanner Conner were targeted versus New England. Though Hill caught a two-point conversion in Week 1, Tua Tagovailoa otherwise hasn't looked his way this season. The tight end position isn't likely to offer tangible fantasy value in Miami until such time as Waller is able to take the field, if then, but the veteran is expected to remain out for Thursday's game against the Bills.
