  • Cardinals' Elijah Jones: Participating at camp

Jones (ankle) is practicing at the Cardinals' camp this week, Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Jones was selected in the third round of the 2024 Draft by Arizona but missed his entire rookie season due to an ankle injury he suffered in the preseason last summer. Getting Jones back healthy is a big boost to a secondary that lost Sean Murphy-Bunting to a season-ending knee injury earlier in the offseason.

  • Cardinals' Elijah Jones: Won't see action in rookie season

Jones (ankle) had his 21-day practice window expire Thursday without being activated off IR, marking an end to his rookie campaign, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.

Jones was selected by the Cardinals in the third round of April's NFL Draft. He hurt his foot during the preseason and began the campaign on IR. Jones wasn't designated to return until Dec. 5, and he wasn't able to ramp up enough during practice to be activated before his practice window expired. Jones will thus have to wait until the 2025 campaign to make his NFL debut.

  • Cardinals' Elijah Jones: Ruled out for Week 16

Jones (ankle) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Panthers, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.

The rookie corner from Boston College has yet to play in an NFL game after sustaining an ankle injury in preseason that landed him on injured reserve. Despite limited practice sessions Wednesday and Friday, Jones will remain on IR and won't make his NFL debut in Week 16. Expect Max Melton and Kei'Trel Clark to continue serving as the Cardinals' top reserve cornerbacks until Jones returns to the field.

  • Cardinals' Elijah Jones: Won't make NFL debut Week 15

Jones (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's matchup against New England, Zach Gershman of the Cardinals' official site reports.

After being drafted in the third round of April's NFL Draft, Jones hurt his ankle in the preseason and has yet to make his NFL debut. He had his 21-day practice window opened Dec. 5 but hasn't been activated off injured reserve. Jones did manage to log a trio of limited practices this week, but he'll have to wait until at least Sunday, Dec. 22 against Carolina to take the field in a regular-season NFL contest for the first time.

  • Cardinals' Elijah Jones: Limited in practice Wednesday

Jones (ankle) practiced in limited fashion Wednesday, Zach Gershman of the Cardinals' official site reports.

Jones has yet to play this season after injuring his heel in Arizona's final preseason contest, but he had his 21-day practice window opened last Thursday, Dec. 5. The rookie cornerback remains on injured reserve, however, as he wasn't activated ahead of this past Sunday's loss to Seattle. It's not clear if Jones will be taken off IR this week to face the Patriots on Sunday.

Jones (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Seahawks.

Jones remains on injured reserve but was designated for return Thursday, opening his 21-day practice window. A third-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Jones is still waiting to make his regular-season debut. His next chance to suit up will be next Sunday versus New England.

  • Cardinals' Elijah Jones: Practice window opens

The Cardinals designated Jones (heel) for return from injured reserve Thursday, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.

Jones, a rookie third-round pick, hasn't yet suited up for regular-season action due to a heel injury sustained during Arizona's preseason finale. With his 21-day practice window now kicking off, Jones can be activated to the 53-man roster as early as Sunday's game against Seattle. If Jones isn't brought to the 53-man roster by Dec. 26, though, he'll be required to spend the rest of the 2024 campaign on IR.

  • Cardinals' Elijah Jones: Lands on IR with heel injury

The Cardinals placed Jones (heel) on injured reserve Thursday, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.

  • Cardinals' Elijah Jones: Third-round pickup for Arizona

The Cardinals selected Jones in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 90th overall.

Jones (6-foot-2, 185 pounds) might be limited to a Cover-3 style of boundary corner as a thin prospect with a linear set of athletic traits, but in that role, he could prove to be a viable starter at the NFL level. Jones was an effective starter on a solid Boston College defense in college, and his NFL Combine testing supports the notion his skill set can continue to show up in the pros. Jones' 4.44-second 40, 42.5-inch vertical and 131-inch broad jump give him uncommon vertical range on the sideline.
