Gates was waived by the Bears on Wednesday.
Gates appeared in five games with the Bears this season, only seeing work on special teams, recording one tackle and recovering a fumble. The Ole Miss product was let go to make room for the addition of wide receiver Collin Johnson to the active roster.

DeMarquis Gates: Waived by Vikings
Gates was waived by the Vikings on Thursday.
Gates was waived in order to make room for Oli Udoh's activation from the reserve/COVID-19 list. The linebacker has bounced between different football leagues over the past couple years, including the AAF and XFL, but he'll look to sign on with another NFL club in the coming weeks.

Vikings' DeMarquis Gates: Signs NFL deal
Gates agreed to a contract with the Vikings on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
The Ole Miss product has spent time in the AAF, NFL and most recently in the XFL. Gates produced 52 tackles and five forced fumbles over eight games in the AAF, and 32 tackles, two sacks, a forced fumble and an interception over five contests in the XFL. He'll have a chance to compete for a rotational role at linebacker for the Vikings next season.

DeMarquis Gates: Let go by Washington
Gates was cut by the Redskins on Tuesday.
Gates was one of the few AAF signee's following the collapse of the league but didn't last long with the Redskins. The former Ole Miss standout led the AAF in both tackles (53) and forced fumbles (five) before the league disbanded. He was waived to make room for Ashton Lampkin on the roster.
