Cowboys' Jaydon Blue: Spot could be in jeopardy
Blue might be pushed for the role of No. 2 running back for the Cowboys after committing a fumble in a Week 8 loss to the Broncos, Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports. "I'm always going to go back to the consistency," coach Brian Schottenheimer said after the loss. "You can't put the ball on the ground. You have to be on top of your blitz pick-ups. You have to do those things."
Dallas was able to recover the fumble, so it didn't end up costing the team a possession, but Schottenheimer's quote suggests there's a lot more that Blue needs to work on than just ball security. The 2025 fifth-round pick has seen 15 carries over the last two games, gaining 58 rushing yards on 3.9 yards per carry, and it might only be a lack of organizational depth that's keeping him in the top backup spot behind Javonte Williams. Veteran Malik Davis has been bouncing between the gameday roster and the practice squad and has only one activation left before he'll need to be signed to a full contract, while Blue's fellow rookie, Phil Mafah (shoulder), remains on the IR without a timeline for his NFL debut.

Cowboys' Jaydon Blue: Eight totes in Sunday's loss
Blue gained 29 yards on eight carries in Sunday's 44-24 loss to the Broncos.
About half of the rookie's yardage came on one 14-yard run, which was the longest of the day by any Cowboys player. Blue remains firmly behind Javonte Williams in the pecking order for touches out of the backfield, but he's beginning to see enough work to flash occasional glimpses of his upside. Over the last two games -- one blowout win and one blowout loss -- Blue has compiled 58 yards on 15 carries, while catching his only target for five yards.

Cowboys' Jaydon Blue: Career-high eight touches Sunday
Blue carried the ball seven times for 29 yards and caught his only target for five yards in Sunday's 44-22 win over the Commanders.
The rookie running back saw a career-high touch volume, although most of his work came on the Cowboys' final drive when the game was out of reach. Blue remains firmly behind Javonte Williams (116 yards and a TD on 16 carries) in the Dallas backfield, and his only real fantasy value is as an insurance policy for the former Bronco, who's already dealt with one serious knee injury in his NFL career.

Cowboys' Jaydon Blue: Barely sees field Sunday
Blue gained zero yards on three carries in Sunday's 30-27 loss to the Panthers.
The rookie running back saw only five snaps (nine percent) on offense as Javonte Williams continues to dominate the workload in the Dallas backfield. Blue did gain 40 yards on two kickoff returns, but even that role will disappear once KaVontae Turpin (foot) gets healthy. Blue's only fantasy value right now is as insurance against a Williams injury.

Cowboys' Jaydon Blue: Bumps up depth chart with Sanders out
Blue will serve as the Cowboys' No. 2 RB behind starter Javonte Williams moving forward after Miles Sanders (knee/ankle) was ruled out for the rest of the season, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
Sanders initially hurt his ankle just before halftime of Dallas' Week 4 tie with the Packers and then was listed with knee and ankle injuries ahead of being inactive this past Sunday at the Jets. A limited practice this Wednesday indicates Sanders was making a last-ditch effort to prove his health, but Executive Vice President Stephen Jones said Friday that he'll miss the remainder of the campaign. Blue made his pro debut Week 5 and turned four carries into seven yards on 11 offensive snaps, so he likely will be contained to scraps behind the workhorse that has been Williams for the foreseeable future.

Cowboys' Jaydon Blue: Sees little usage in NFL debut
Blue carried the ball four times for seven yards and returned one kickoff for 32 yards in Sunday's win over the Jets.
With Miles Sanders (ankle) and KaVontae Turpin (foot) both sidelined, Blue drew into the game-day lineup for the first time but didn't see much usage. It would likely take an injury to Cowboys lead back Javonte Williams for Blue to get onto the fantasy radar.

Cowboys' Jaydon Blue: Available for pro debut
Blue is listed as active Sunday at the Jets.
After being a healthy scratch for each of the Cowboys' first four games of the season, Blue will be available to make his pro debut Week 5. The rookie fifth-round pick will be one of the reserves behind starter Javonte Williams along with FB Hunter Luepke, as Miles Sanders (knee/ankle) is inactive. Blue averaged 5.7 yards per carry, recorded 56 catches for 503 yards and scored 18 total touchdowns in 29 games in his final two collegiate campaigns at Texas.

Cowboys' Jaydon Blue: Getting closer to being active
Coach Brian Schottenheimer said Monday that Blue is very close to being active on game days, Joe Hoyt of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Blue has been a healthy inactive for each of Dallas' first four games, and as long as both Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders (ankle) are healthy and producing, it's hard to see the rookie making an impact in the box score. Blue is little more than an end-of-bench stash in deeper fantasy leagues and a hold in dynasty formats.

Cowboys' Jaydon Blue: Healthy scratch yet again
Blue (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday Night Football against the Packers.
This is now the fourth time in four games that Blue has been a healthy scratch to open his rookie year. The fifth-round pick remains behind Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders on the depth chart.

Cowboys' Jaydon Blue: Healthy scratch again Week 3
Blue (coach's decision) isn't active for Sunday's battle against the Bears, Garrett Podell of CBS Sports reports.
Blue has now been a healthy scratch in each of Dallas' first three games of the campaign. Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders will again be the team's two active RBs in Week 3.

Cowboys' Jaydon Blue: Inactive for second straight game
Blue (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Giants.
The rookie fifth-round draft pick will have to wait at least one more week to make his NFL debut, as Dallas will proceed with Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders as its lone active running backs for the second straight game. Though Williams looks to be locked in as Dallas' lead back after producing two touchdowns and 64 total yards on 17 touches in the Week 1 loss to the Eagles, Blue could eventually unseat Sanders -- who committed a costly fumble in the opener -- for the No. 2 role as the season unfolds.
