  • Packers' Bo Melton: Getting work at CB

Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst told reporters Wednesday that Melton will mostly play at corner during training camp and the preseason, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.

Melton received reps at corner during minicamp in June. It appears the 2022 seventh-rounder will officially make the switch to defense, though he'll likely operate as a depth piece in the secondary behind Keisean Nixon, Carrington Valentine and Nate Hobbs. Melton appeared in all 17 regular-season games for the Packers in 2024 and posted eight catches (on 17 targets) for 91 yards while adding eight carries for 54 yards.

  • Packers' Bo Melton: Taking reps at cornerback

Melton was running cornerback drills during minicamp Tuesday, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.

Melton was fifth among Green Bay's pass catchers in snaps in 2024, but after the team added Matthew Golden and Savion Williams in the 2025 Draft and signed veteran Mecole Hardman in free agency this offseason, Melton's place on the roster became uncertain. His 4.34 speed at least allows him to project as a special teams asset, and the Packers may get creative finding ways to keep him on the 53-man roster. At least for now, there's an opening at cornerback thanks to the recent release of Jaire Alexander (knee).

  • Packers' Bo Melton: Returning to Green Bay

Melton signed his exclusive rights free-agent tender with the Packers on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Melton hauled in eight passes for 91 yards in 17 regular-season games for Green Bay last season in addition to carrying the ball eight times for 54 yards. He will compete for a spot as a depth receiver and can contribute as a returner and special teamer as well.

  • Packers' Bo Melton: One catch against Eagles

Melton recorded one catch on three targets for 16 yards in Sunday's 22-10 loss to the Eagles.

The Packers were down several key pass catchers, as Christian Watson (knee) was inactive, while Jayden Reed (shoulder) and Romeo Doubs (head) were also forced to exit the game. That forced Melton into a more significant role, and he earned multiple targets in a game for just the sixth time in 18 total contests for the campaign. Melton has had moments of productivity in his first two years as a pro, but if he sticks with the Packers as a restricted free agent, he'll likely remain relatively buried on the depth chart.

  • Packers' Bo Melton: Targeted four times

Melton caught three of four targets for 18 yards in Sunday's 27-25 loss to the Vikings.

Melton played just 16 of the Packers' 63 offensive snaps Sunday, yet he saw a season-high four targets in the contest. The 25-year-old saw increased usage in the passing game against Minnesota with fellow wideout Christian Watson (ankle) inactive. Nonetheless, Melton remains far off the fantasy radar heading into a Week 18 matchup against the Bears.
