Jets' Xavier Newman: Past groin injury
Newman (groin) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Newman was sidelined for the Jets' last two games due to a groin injury, but Wednesday's full practice session suggests he's since moved past the issue. With the Baylor product back at full health, he's expected to serve as the Jets' top backup center in the Week 16 matchup against the Rams.

Newman (groin) was downgraded to out for Sunday's Week 15 game against Jacksonville, Ethan Greenberg and Eric Allen of the Jets' official site report.
Newman will miss his second consecutive contest due to a groin issue. When healthy, the Baylor product has been a depth option on New York's offensive line, tallying 11 snaps on offense and 27 snaps on special teams across eight games.

Newman was placed on injured reserve following the Jets' Week 7 loss to the Steelers, during which he was placed on a spine board and carted off the field. Newman returned to practice Wednesday, and he finished the week off with consecutive full practices, though he's still listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Seahawks.

Jets' Xavier Newman: Practice window opens Wednesday
The Jets designated Newman (concussion) to return from injured reserve Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Newman suffered a significant injury in Week 7 against the Steelers that required him to be placed on a spine board and carted off the field. He was able to travel back to New York with the team after being taken to a local Pittsburgh-area hospital and was placed on injured reserve Oct. 23. The 25-year-old offensive lineman was able to log a limited practice Wednesday, and in order to be able to return to games, he'll have to log full practices and clear the league's five-step concussion protocol.

Newman left Sunday's game at Pittsburgh early on a spine board, so it's not totally surprising that he'll have to miss at least the Jets' next four games. In his absence, Jake Hanson becomes the team's top bench piece on the interior of the offensive line.

Newman (neck) is traveling back with the team after Sunday's 37-15 loss to the Steelers, per interim coach Jeff Ulbrich, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Newman was taken to a local Pittsburgh-area hospital after exiting Sunday's loss on a spine board in a scary scene, but Ulbrich revealed that tests at the hospital came back negative and Newman gained clearance to travel back to New York with his teammates. Despite this good news, Newman seems unlikely to be available when the Jets face the Patriots in Week 8.
