Jets' Jay Tufele: On track to play Sunday
Tufele (knee) was a full participant at practice Wednesday, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.
Tufele spent Week 8 at Cincinnati on the sideline with a knee injury, but with the benefit of a Week 9 bye, it now looks like he'll be ready to play in Week 10 versus the Browns. After three-time All Pro Quinnen Williams was traded to Dallas on Tuesday, Tufele now projects for a starting role on the defensive line.

Jets' Jay Tufele: Ruled out against Cincy
Tufele (knee) won't play Sunday against the Bengals, Eric Allen of the Jets' official site reports.
Tufele will miss at least one game after sustaining a knee injury in the Jets' Week 7 loss to the Panthers. Jowon Briggs is the team's lone available backup defensive tackle behind Quinnen Williams and Harrison Phillips, though the Jets could opt to rotate in some of their defensive ends on the interior.

Tufele was able to increase from a limited participant Thursday to a full participant Friday, and he now appears to be set to make his return to the field after missing two contests due to an illness. The 26-year-old will be back in his reserve role behind Quinnen Williams and Harrison Phillips on the defensive line against the Dolphins on Monday Night Football.

Tufele (illness) has been ruled out for Sunday's Week 2 battle against Buffalo, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Tufele logged three tackles while playing 31 percent of New York's defensive snaps Week 1 in a loss to Pittsburgh, but he's since come down with an illness and won't suit up against the Bills. Leonard Taylor, who was inactive Week 1, may be asked to log some defensive snaps as a rotational defensive lineman in Tufele's absence Sunday.

Tufele and the Jets agreed to a contract Thursday, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
Tufele spent the past three seasons with the Bengals after beginning his NFL career with the Jaguars in 2021. He finished the 2024 regular season with 15 tackles (five solo) including 0.5 sacks, and one pass defense across 15 games (three starts). Tufele fortifies the Jets' defensive line and will have the chance to compete for a starting role at defensive tackle alongside Quinnen Williams (hamstring).

Bengals' Jay Tufele: Avoids injury report
Tufele (illness) was not listed on the Bengals' injury report Wednesday.
Tufele missed Week 13 against the Jaguars after coming down with an illness in the week leading up to the game. His return to practice Wednesday indicates that he is on track to play Sunday against the Colts.
