Patriots' Marcus Jones: Nets three-year extension
The Patriots signed Jones to a three-year contract extension Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Jones' deal contains $36 million in new money and ties him to New England through the 2028 season. A first-team All-Pro selection as a punt returner in 2022, Jones has continued to shine on special teams this season, most notably returning a punt 87 yards for a touchdown in a Week 4 win over the Panthers. However, it's on the defensive end where Jones has emerged as an indispensable piece in 2025 after having previously worked in more of a part-time role in the secondary. Through eight games, Jones has excelled as New England's top slot corner, amassing 36 tackles, nine pass breakups, two interceptions and a sack.

Jones tied his season-high mark in tackles, but where he really shined was as a punt returner. The fourth-year cornerback returned a punt 87 yards for a score in the first quarter and also had a 61-yard return in the second period before capping his big day with a 19-yard return in the third. Patriots' Marcus Jones: Won't play against Bolts
Jones (hip) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Chargers, Chad Graff of The Athletic reports.
Jones will be sidelined for a second straight game due to a hip injury he likely picked up against the Cardinals in Week 15. He has been unable to practice since the injury, so which puts him in jeopardy of being sidelined for the Patriots' regular-season finale against the Bills in Week 18. Alex Austin is slated to serve as New England's slot corner for a second straight game due to Jones' injury.
