Dolphins' Riley Patterson: Makes two FGAs in Week 6
Patterson went 2-for-3 on field-goal tries and made all three of his extra-point attempts in Sunday's 29-27 loss to the Chargers.
Patterson missed a 57-yard field-goal attempt wide right in the second quarter before making field goals from 47 and 27 yards later in the quarter. The kicker had been used sparingly over five weeks entering Sunday's matchup, and he's now gone 7-for-8 on field-goal attempts over six games this year.

Dolphins' Riley Patterson: Connects on only FGA in loss
Patterson made his only field-goal attempt and went 3-for-3 on extra-point tries in Sunday's 27-24 loss to the Panthers.
Patterson finished off Miami's first possession of the game with a 43-yard field goal in the first quarter, which proved to be his only field goal of the day. The kicker has now gone 5-for-5 on field-goal tries and made all 12 of his PATs over five games with the Dolphins this season. Regular starter Jason Sanders (hip) is eligible to return from injured reserve, so it's unclear if Patterson will continue to be the team's kicker moving forward.

Dolphins' Riley Patterson: Spotless in Week 4 win
Patterson went 2-for-2 on field-goal attempts and made all three of his PATs in Monday's 27-21 win over the Jets.
Patterson put the Dolphins on the board with a 47-yard field goal in the first quarter, giving the team an early 3-0 lead. The kicker later added a 36-yarder in the fourth quarter, which accounted for the team's final points of the day. Patterson has been filling in for Jason Sanders (hip) with Miami this season, going 4-for-4 on field-goal tries and 9-for-9 on extra-point attempts over four games.

Patterson has been subbing in for Jason Myers (hip) to begin the season, and the former has connected on both field-goal attempts and all six point-after tries. Now that Patterson has been elevated three times, though, Miami has used its max number of such transactions on him, meaning he must be signed to the active roster in order to handle kicking duties Week 4 against the Jets and if Myers remains on injured reserve after that point.

The kicker, who was again elevated from the practice squad ahead of the contest to fill in for Jason Sanders (hip), has now made both of his field-goal attempts and all six of his extra-point tries in 2025. Sanders remains on injured reserve and therefore has to miss at least one more game, meaning Patterson will likely be called on again in a Week 4 home matchup against the Jets on Monday night, Sept. 29.

Riley Patterson: To be Dolphins' short-term starter
Patterson will sign with Miami's practice squad Wednesday and be elevated the first three weeks of the season to start in place of Jason Sanders (hip), Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports.
Patterson could get a chance to start for the Dolphins the first four weeks of the regular season, the minimum amount of time Sanders will be required to miss after his placement on IR-R, but he'll only be eligible to be elevated a maximum of three times. As such, Miami would have to sign Patterson to the active roster at some point if the team wants him to fill in for the entire duration of Sanders' absence. Last year Patterson kicked for three teams across five regular-season appearances, going a combined 4-for-7 on field-goal attempts while making all 16 of his extra-point tries.

Falcons' Riley Patterson: Kicks for three teams in 2024
Patterson went 4-for-7 on field-goal attempts and made all 16 of his extra-point tries across five regular-season games in 2024.
Patterson lost out to Cade York for the Commanders' kicking job during training camp. It wasn't until October when Patterson managed to find work, and he ended up playing for the Jets, Falcons and Browns during the 2024 campaign due to injuries to those team's respective kickers. Patterson ended the regular season in Atlanta after Younghoe Koo (hip) was placed on IR. Patterson enters the offseason as an unrestricted free agent, but he should have no problem garnering interest from teams looking for a veteran place kicker to serve as the starter or to bring in competition.
