McCutcheon secured three of four targets for 52 yards and a touchdown during Thursday's 19-10 preseason win over the Panthers.
After being held without a catch during last week's exhibition matchup, McCutcheon ended the preseason on a high note Thursday, and he recorded the team's lone touchdown in the victory. Despite his performance Thursday, the 26-year-old seems like a long shot to make the Steelers' 53-man roster.

Steelers' Lance McCutcheon: Tallies two catches in win
McCutcheon secured both of his targets for 14 yards during Saturday's 31-25 preseason win over the Jaguars.
McCutcheon was cut from the Steelers' practice squad last November, but he rejoined the organization on a reserve/future contract in mid-January. Even if he makes more of an impact in subsequent preseason games, he'll likely have to settle for a practice squad role, at best, in 2025.

McCutcheon was sidelined for last week's loss to the Chargers with a shoulder injury, leaving him limited during each session of Week 14 prep. The 23-year-old is now set to return and once again fill in on the Rams' depleted receiving corps with Cooper Kupp (ankle) and Allen Robinson (foot) both on IR. McCutcheon logged limited sessions Tuesday and Wednesday after not practicing Monday due to a shoulder injury that's already cost him one contest. Brandon Powell (illness) is also questionable, so the Rams' passing attack -- which already without quarterback Matthew Stafford (neck) and receivers Cooper Kupp (ankle) and Allen Robinson (foot) -- may be without two more weapons against Las Vegas.

McCutcheon (shoulder) is listed as limited on Tuesday's practice estimate, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
After getting a DNP at Monday's walk-through, McCutcheon is trending in the right direction. He injured his shoulder in the team's Week 12 loss to Kansas City and missed their subsequent loss to the Seahawks. The 23-year-old preseason star would presumably be in line for increased opportunities if he is able to return, as Cooper Kupp (ankle) and Allen Robinson (foot) have both landed on the IR, but McCutcheon is still looking for his first official NFL reception.
