  • Dee Virgin: Joins practice squad

The Lions signed Virgin to the practice squad Sunday.

Virgin was a strong special teams performer for the Lions last season, playing a team-high 360 snaps in 2019, so it's a bit of a surprise that he failed to make the active roster. However, he will remain with the team on the practice squad with hopes of getting called up should the team suffer any injuries in the secondary.

  • Lions' Dee Virgin: Inks deal with Lions

Virgin will remain with the Lions after the team placed a contract tender on the exclusive rights free agent Wednesday, Justin Rodgers of The Detroit News reports.

Virgin excelled on special teams for the Lions in 2019, playing a team-high 360 snaps for the unit. The 26-year-old produced 10 tackles (nine solo) in 15 games last season.

  • Lions' Dee Virgin: Rejoins Detroit

Virgin was signed to the Lions' 53-man roster Saturday.

Virgin spent the first month of the season with the Lions before being waived in early October. The 25-year-old spent his first stint with the team playing exclusively special teams, and should have a similar role this time around.

  • Dee Virgin: Waived by Detroit

Virgin was waived by the Lions on Tuesday.

Virgin was let go without a corresponding move, hinting the Lions' brass was not impressed with the early September acquisition. Largely used as a specials team asset, Virgin will need some luck if he's to latch on elsewhere during the 2018 campaign.
