Ankou (ankle) participated in Wednesday's practice, Sal Capaccio of WGR Sports Radio 550 Buffalo reports.
It's unclear how much Ankou did at practice, but it's encouraging to see him back in action after missing about a week with an ankle issue. The undrafted defensive tackle out of UCLA spent last season on the Bills' practice squad and is battling for a spot on the initial 53-man roster this year.

Ankou joined the team's practice squad Oct. 3, and he's yet to ascend to the active roster this season. He'll now be forced to miss the next four weeks. In a corresponding move, the Bills signed fellow defensive tackle Kendal Vickers to their practice squad.

The Bills signed Ankou to the practice squad Monday.
Ankou was previously let go with an injury settlement by Buffalo in late August after sustaining a hamstring injury in the team's final preseason game. However, Sal Capaccio of WGR Sports Radio 550 Buffalo reports that the 28-year-old is healthy again and ready to play this season. Ankou will serve as a potential gameday elevation behind banged-up defensive tackles Ed Oliver (ankle) and Jordan Phillips (hamstring).

Ankou suffered a hamstring injury during Friday's preseason game against the Panthers but will be able to sign elsewhere once he's back to full health. He appeared in six games between the Titans and Bills last year and tallied 12 tackles (five solo) and a sack.

The extent of the injury remains unclear. The 28-year-old has been competing for a reserve role along the Bills' defensive line during training camp after joining the team halfway through last season. He made six appearances from Week 8 onward and posted nine tackles and one sack during that span.

Ankou (calf) was removed from the Bills' active/PUP list Thursday, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports.
Ankou appeared back at practice in full pads for the first time since picking up a calf strain July 24. The 28-year-old played for five teams over his first five seasons, including six games for the Bills from Week 8 onward last year. Ankou totaled nine tackles with one sack during his time with Buffalo in 2021, and he should compete with Brandin Bryant, Prince Emili and C.J. Brewer for a reserve defensive tackle role with the team this preseason.

Ankou spent four days in COVID protocols and will now be able to rejoin the team. He's suited up in five games for the Bills this season, but it's unlikely he'll be elevated to the active roster before Sunday's divisional-round contest against the Chiefs.

The UCLA product has spent time with the Colts, Jaguars and Browns since entering the league, but his most recent stop came with Houston, the first NFL team to ever offer him a camp invite. Ankou provides Dallas with depth along the defensive line, though the 26-year-old hasn't recorded a sack since playing for Jacksonville in 2017.
