49ers' Keion White: Sent to Bay Area
The 49ers acquired White and a 2026 seventh-round pick from the Patriots on Tuesday in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
The Patriots selected White in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft, and the Georgia Tech product was an integral piece to New England's defensive line through his first two seasons with the organization. However, White saw his playing time dip over the course of the 2025 campaign, culminating in a healthy DNP for Week 8 against the Browns, per Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official site. White's addition gives the 49ers added depth at defensive end, which is crucial given that Nick Bosa (knee) and Tarron Jackson (undisclosed) are both on injured reserve. The Niners' defensive line is also riddled with injuries to Bryce Huff (hamstring), Yetur Gross-Matos (knee/hamstring), Sam Okuayinonu (ankle), Jordan Elliott (ankle) and Alfred Collins (shoulder), which could force San Francisco to have White active for Sunday's game against the Giants.

Patriots' Keion White: Appears set to return in Week 7
White (elbow) practiced in full Wednesday.
White suffered an elbow injury during a Week 5 clash against Buffalo and didn't play this past Sunday versus New Orleans. However, the third-year linebacker's ability to log a full practice session Wednesday suggests that he's on track to return to action Sunday in Tennessee. White has been used in a rotational role when healthy, logging less than a 50 percent snap share in three of the four games in which he's seen action.

Patriots' Keion White: Won't play in Week 6
White (elbow) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Saints, Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official site reports.
The third-year pro from Georgia Tech didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday after sustaining an elbow injury in the Week 5 win over the Bills, so it's no surprise that he'll be out for Sunday's matchup. White has played 107 defensive snaps across four contests this season, recording five total tackles. In his stead, Elijah Ponder is likely to serve as New England's top reserve outside linebacker.

White is missing a second consecutive practice due to the elbow injury he picked up during New England's win over the Bills in Week 5. He'll almost certainly need to resume handling at least limited reps Friday for any chance of being cleared to suit up Sunday on the road against the Saints.
