Raiders' Darnay Holmes: Staying in Las Vegas
The Raiders re-signed Holmes (groin) to a one-year deal Monday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
The 26-year-old from UCLA sustained a groin injury during the Raiders' Week 18 loss to the Chargers, sidelining sidelined him for the second half. However, after re-signing with Las Vegas on Monday, he appears to have moved past the issue. Holmes played an inconsistent role on the Raiders defense in 2024, appearing in 16 games and recording 30 total tackles and three passes defended over 280 defensive snaps. He's expected to remain one of the team's top reserve cornerbacks in 2025.

Raiders' Darnay Holmes: Departs Sunday due to groin issue
Holmes (groin) is questionable to return to Sunday's Week 18 game against the Chargers.
Holmes was deemed questionable to re-enter the Raiders' season finale midway through the third quarter. The veteran cornerback has played an inconsistent role for Las Vegas this season, though he entered Sunday having logged over half of the team's defensive snaps in six of his past seven contests. Holmes got the start at cornerback with Jack Jones (back) and Jakorian Bennett (shoulder) both sidelined by injuries, and he ended up recording a season-high seven tackles. Holmes became primarily a special-teams contributor in 2023, seeing only 115 snaps on defense in 16 regular-season games. Despite the limited work on defense, the UCLA product still recorded two interceptions on the season. He'll now have the opportunity to carve out a bigger role in New York again in 2024.

It's not immediately clear when Holmes sustained the foot injury, but that he practiced at all Wednesday indicates that it's likely not severe. Nevertheless, he'll probably need to practice in full Thursday or Friday in order to avoid carrying an injury designation into the weekend.

Holmes picked off Dak Prescott for his first interception of the season and second pass deflection. His six tackles were also a season high by a wide margin. The cornerback was on the field for 39 defensive snaps (51 percent).
