Dalton Keene: Gets cut with injury settlement
Houston cut Keene (hamstring) from injured reserve with an injury settlement Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Keene joined Brevin Jordan (knee) on the Texans' injured reserve list with a hamstring injury less than two weeks ago, and now Keene is on track to become a free agent. Once he's back healthy, he'll be free to sign with another squad and suit up right away.

Texans' Dalton Keene: Suffers leg injury
Keene's injury that landed him on season-ending injured reserve is to his leg, per a league source, Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 Houston reports.
It's a dangerous time to be a tight end for Houston, which has placed two members of the room on injured reserve this week. Keene follows Brevin Jordan, who will miss the season due to a knee injury, his second in as many seasons. The Texans signed free agent Tre' McKitty in the wake of those injuries.

Texans' Dalton Keene: Lands on injured reserve
The Texans placed Keene (undisclosed) on injured reserve Wednesday.
It's unclear whether the injury has anything to do with the torn ACL that Keene suffered in August of 2024. Regardless, by being placed on IR, the 2020 third-rounder will be forced to miss the entire 2025 season unless he reaches an injury settlement with Houston. The Texans bolstered their tight end depth by signing Tre' McKitty in a corresponding move.

Texans' Dalton Keene: Signs with Texans
Keene signed with the Texans on Tuesday, Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle reports.
After trying out with the team Saturday, Keene has joined the Texans and is expected to practice Tuesday. The 26-year-old has been in Houston the past two seasons, but he missed all of last season due to a torn ACL after appearing in one game in 2023. Fully recovered, he will compete with Cade Stover, Luke Lachey and Irv Smith for a place on the 53-man roster.

Keene was forced to sit for the entire 2024 season after he tore his ACL during a preseason game in August as a member of the Texans. He appears to have fully recovered from the injury, and a reunion in Houston appears to be a possibility. If he were to rejoin the Texans, Keene would compete with Cade Stover, Luke Lachey and Irv Smith for a spot on the 53-man roster.
