Rams' Ronnie Rivers: Signing with active roster
The Rams signed Rivers to their active roster Wednesday, Wyatt Miller of the team's official site reports.
Rivers has spent the entire season so far on the Rams' practice squad, but he's now a part of the 53-man roster after Week 9. It's not likely he'll see much work on offense as long as Kyren Williams, Blake Corum and Jarquez Hunter are still healthy.

Ronnie Rivers: Back to Rams' practice squad
Rivers reverted to the Rams' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Rivers was elevated to the Rams' active roster for the second time this season and suited up after Jarquez Hunter (coach's decision) was made inactive for Sunday's game against the Saints. Rivers played just five snaps on special teams without showing up on the box score otherwise while the Rams stuck with their two-man backfield of Kyren Williams and Blake Corum. Rivers is eligible to be elevated from the practice squad one more time by the Rams this season.

Rams' Ronnie Rivers: Joins active roster
The Rams elevated Rivers to their active roster Saturday.
The Fresno State product was also elevated for the Rams' Week 7 win over the Jaguars, failing to record an offensive stat across 10 total snaps (nine on special teams, one on offense). Now back with the active roster, he's likely to contribute on special teams in Sunday's matchup against the Saints.

Ronnie Rivers: Back with practice squad
Rivers reverted to the Rams' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log.
Rivers was elevated from the practice squad ahead of Sunday's 35-7 win over the Jaguars, failing to record any stats while playing one snap on offense and nine snaps with the special-teams unit. The running back is eligible to be elevated two more times before he'd have to be officially signed to the active roster.

Rams' Ronnie Rivers: Elevated for Week 7
The Rams elevated Rivers from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday.
Rivers was signed to the Rams' practice squad in late August after failing to make the 53-man roster at the end of training camp. Week 7 against the Jaguars marks Rivers' first elevation of the season, and he'll most likely see the field on special teams while serving as a backfield depth option behind Kyren Williams, Blake Corum and rookie fourth-rounder Jarquez Hunter.

Ronnie Rivers: Back to practice squad
The Rams signed Rivers to the practice squad Wednesday, Wyatt Miller of the team's official site reports.
Rivers failed to beat out Jarquez Hunter for the RB3 spot on the Rams' 53-man roster. Rivers will stick around on the practice squad and would be a candidate to be elevated to the active roster if Hunter, Kyren Williams or Blake Corum were unable to play.

Ronnie Rivers: Cut by LAR
The Rams waived Rivers (ribs) on Tuesday.
Rivers signed a one-year contract with the Rams in March and entered training camp competing against Blake Corum and Jarquez Hunter for a depth spot in the backfield behind starter Kyren Williams. Rivers was limited to just one preseason game due to a rib injury, and that may have played a factor in him not making the Rams' 53-man roster. The Fresno State product will go on waivers, but if he goes unclaimed, he'll have the opportunity to catch on with a team in need of depth out of the backfield.

Rams' Ronnie Rivers: Expected to miss time
Rams head coach Sean McVay said Sunday that Rivers (ribs) will be out for "a little bit of time," Greg Beacham of the Associated Press reports.
Rivers is nursing a ribs injury sustained during Los Angeles' preseason game against the Cowboys on Saturday. Any significant time missed could negatively impact his chances of securing a depth backfield role behind starting running back Kyren Williams. His next chance to play this preseason will come Saturday, Aug. 16 against the Chargers.

Rams' Ronnie Rivers: Done for the day
Rivers (ribs) has been ruled out for the remainder of Saturday's preseason game against the Cowboys, Adam Grosbard of The Orange County Register reports.
Rivers suited up for all 17 regular-season games with Los Angeles in 2024, though he rushed only 22 times for 99 yards in that span. The 2022 UDFA is competing for a reserve role in the Rams' backfield behind starter Kyren Williams, and he'll work to get back on the field in time to face the Chargers in preseason action on Saturday, Aug. 16.

Rams' Ronnie Rivers: Staying in Los Angeles
Rivers signed a one-year contract with the Rams on Sunday, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
Rivers opened the 2024 regular season as the Rams' No. 2 running back behind Kyren Williams, but he was eventually bumped down to third string by rookie Blake Corum. Rivers saw plenty of work on special teams for the Rams last season and should reprise that role in 2025. He finished the 2024 campaign with 22 carries for 99 yards and five catches (on six targets) for 34 yards across 17 regular-season games.

Rams' Ronnie Rivers: Blanked in playoff loss
Rivers played all 16 of his snaps on special teams in Sunday's 28-22 NFC divisional-round loss to the Eagles.
Head coach Sean McVay didn't deviate from starting running back Kyren Williams at all on Sunday, leaving him in for all 71 snaps on offense. On the season, Rivers compiled 22 rushing attempts for 99 yards and tacked on five catches for 34 yards, and he's set to become a restricted free agent in the offseason. Rookie Blake Corum (forearm) established himself as the backup to Williams by season's end, but Rivers has a key role on special teams, which may entice the Rams into bringing him back in 2025.

Rams' Ronnie Rivers: Earns three touches
Rivers carried the ball three times for eight yards during Monday's 27-9 wild-card win against the Vikings.
With Blake Corum (forearm) out for the playoffs, Rivers stepped in as the primary backup to Kyren Williams at running back. As has been the case all season, Williams didn't come off the field often, playing 46 snaps and earning a total of 19 touches for 92 yards and a touchdown. Rivers played just seven snaps, and his three touches all came in the fourth quarter with the Rams holding a comfortable lead. Rivers is likely to continue to see limited volume on offense in the divisional round against a stout Eagles run defense.
