Isaiah Buggs: Informed of release
The Chiefs informed Buggs of his release Monday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Buggs was arrested June 16 on charges of domestic violence and burglary, less than a month after he turned himself in for misdemeanor animal cruelty charges. He played for Detroit the past two seasons and was waived Jan. 2.

Isaiah Buggs: Let go by Detroit
The Lions waived Buggs on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Head coach Dan Campbell told reporters Tuesday that Alim McNeill (knee) could come off injured reserve and return to the field this weekend, so the Lions likely parted ways with Buggs to open up a roster spot. The fifth-year pro had spent the last two seasons in Detroit, appearing in 27 games and recording 58 total tackles, including two tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks, while also deflecting three passes.

Buggs should be clear for the Lions' Thanksgiving Day game against the Packers after missing their win over the Bears on Sunday. Considering his participation level was just an estimate, his status for Tuesday's practice should offer more clarity on his status.

Lions' Isaiah Buggs: Missing Week 11
Buggs (illness) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Bears, Eric Woodyard of ESPN.com reports.
The 27-year-old nose tackle did not practice all week as he continues to deal with an illness, so it's no surprise that he'll be inactive for Sunday's contest. With Buggs missing time, Levi Onwuzurike and Brodric Martin should see increased snaps as rotational defensive linemen this weekend.

Buggs is a healthy scratch for the season opener against the Chiefs on Thursday night.
The Lions' starting nose tackle from 2022 was losing snaps during training camp and the preseason to Brodric Martin and Benito Jones. Buggs signed a two-year, $6 million extension in the offseason after recording 46 tackles and 10 quarterback hits last year.

Buggs has missed recent practice time due to an "illness" while concurrently expressing frustration that he was told by coaches that he wouldn't be active for Week 1. The news comes as a surprise after Buggs was rewarded with a $6 million deal this offseason, presumably with the intention of returning as Detroit's starting nose tackle. Both Brodric Martin and Benito Jones have cut into Buggs' reps during training camp and the preseason.

Lions' Isaiah Buggs: Re-signs with Lions
Buggs and the Lions agreed to a two-year, $6 million contract Monday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Buggs will be back in Detroit in 2023 after he produced a career-best 46 tackles, including a sack, with the team last season. The interior defensive lineman was also able to deflect two passes and force a fumble while playing in all 17 games in 2022. After three seasons as a reserve option in Pittsburgh, Buggs appears to have carved out a long-term starting spot on Detroit's defensive line.
