  • Bears' Shemar Turner: On track to play Week 1

Turner (ankle) was not listed on the Bears' estimated injury report Thursday.

Turner was sidelined for most of training camp due to an ankle injury that he suffered in late July. His absence from Thursday's estimated report indicates that he's past the issue, and the rookie second-rounder is in line to make his NFL regular-season debut against the Vikings on Monday. Turner is expected to begin the season in a rotational role at defensive tackle behind starters Grady Jarrett and Gervon Dexter.

Turner (ankle) is inactive for Sunday's preseason contest against the Bills, Sean Hammond of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Turner was able to return to practice Friday after missing three weeks with an ankle injury, but he was still unable to give it a go versus Buffalo. The defensive lineman will shift his focus to Friday's preseason finale with the Chiefs.

  • Bears' Shemar Turner: Resumes practicing Friday

Turner (ankle) is participating in Friday's practice, Sean Hammond of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Turner suffered an ankle injury on the first day of training camp and has missed not only the last three weeks of practice, but also Chicago's preseason opener against Miami. The rookie second-round pick will have two more chances to suit up for exhibition action, first Sunday against the Bills, then during the Bears' preseason finale against Kansas City on Friday, Aug. 22.

Turner (ankle) did not participate in Friday's practice, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports.

Turner limped off the field during Wednesday's practice after injuring his ankle, and the rookie second-rounder remained sidelined during Friday's session. The severity of the injury isn't clear, but he'll continue to work off to the side before being given the green light to return to individual and team drills. Turner is expected to serve in a rotational role at defensive tackle behind Gervon Dexter and Grady Jarrett during the upcoming season.

  • Bears' Shemar Turner: Limps off field

Turner (ankle) limped off the field at the end of practice Wednesday, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports.

Turner's first professional practice came to a rough end as he suffered an ankle injury. One of three Bears second-round picks from this year, Turner had 24 tackles for loss over his college career and will look to play a rotational role in the defensive tackle room behind starters Grady Jarrett and Gervon Dexter. He will not practice Thursday as the Bears are still evaluating his status.

  • Bears' Shemar Turner: Lands in Chicago

The Bears selected Turner (leg) in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 62nd overall.

Turner is a good value for the Bears at this stage of the second round. The Texas A&M product is a tad light for a defensive tackle (294 pounds) but was productive nonetheless with 10.0 sacks and 22.5 total tackles for loss in 43 games while playing through a stress fracture in his leg. He adds twitchiness and versatility to Chicago's defensive front.
