Chargers' Oronde Gadsden: Keeps rolling in Week 8 win
Gadsden secured all five targets for 77 yards and a touchdown in the Chargers' 37-10 win over the Vikings on Thursday night.
Gadsden was second to Ladd McConkey in receptions and receiving yards while also tying for runner-up status in targets with Keenan Allen. The rookie tight end added his second career touchdown via an eight-yard scoring grab with just over four minutes remaining in the first quarter. The chemistry between Justin Herbert and Gadsden has spiked in the last three games, a stretch where they've connected for 19 catches, 309 yards and the two scores on 22 targets. Gadsden will aim to carry over the momentum into a favorable Week 9 road clash with the beatable Titans defense on Sunday, Nov. 2.

Chargers' Oronde Gadsden: Huge numbers in loss to Indy
Gadsden caught seven of nine targets for 164 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 38-24 loss to the Colts.
The rookie tight end led the Chargers in receiving yards on the day, emerging as a go-to option for Justin Herbert as the team tried to rally from a 23-3 halftime deficit. Keenan Allen and Ladd McConkey both saw more targets and caught more passes than Gadsden, but the 2025 fifth-round pick did haul in his first NFL touchdown with a 15-yard reception in the fourth quarter. Gadsden has posted a 14-232-1 line on 17 targets over the last two games, giving him significant momentum heading into a Week 8 clash with the Vikings.

Chargers' Oronde Gadsden: Career high in receptions
Gadsden caught seven of his eight targets for 68 yards in the 29-27 win over the Dolphins.
Gadsden finally had his breakout game after seeing his snap count surge each of the last three weeks. The rookie was repeatedly a checkdown target for Justin Herbert with the offensive line in shambles, but Gadsden responded well and looked good after the catch as well. It's also worth noting Gadsden did this despite Will Dissly (knee) being active for the first time in three weeks, a sure sign the rookie has seemingly taken over as the team's starting tight end.

Chargers' Oronde Gadsden: Snares only target
Gadsden caught his only target for 14 yards in the 27-10 loss to the Commanders on Sunday.
With Will Dissly (knee) out a third consecutive week, Gadsden saw a season-high 34 snaps while dramatically outplaying Tyler Conklin (20) and Tucker Fisk (17). Los Angeles is dealing with significant injuries to its offensive line, which has hindered Gadsden's ability to actually see any volume as a pass catcher. Even with the eventual return of Dissly, Gadsden is firmly entrenched as a piece of the offense, but it's unclear how much consistent fantasy utility that role will hold.

Chargers' Oronde Gadsden: More playing time but volume
Gadsden caught two of his three targets for 16 yards in the 21-18 loss to the Giants on Sunday.
Let's start first with the encouraging news. With Will Dissly (knee) out a second consecutive week, Gadsden saw a dramatic uptick in playing time (30 snaps) compared to Tucker Fisk (13 snaps) and Tyler Conklin (12 snaps). That the rookie almost immediately usurped the two veterans, especially in a game that saw the Chargers lose stud left tackle Joe Alt (ankle) early in the game, thus forcing Gadsden to be involved as a blocker, is certainly a good sign. But that's also the crux of the matter, too, given Alt reportedly suffered a high-ankle sprain. That likely makes Los Angeles woefully thin on the offensive line after starting tackle Rashawn Slater ruptured his patella tendon during training camp. Gadsden's best as a short to intermediate pass catcher, but the opportunity to blossom in that role may be handicapped in the immediate future.

Chargers' Oronde Gadsden: Impresses in debut
Gadsden caught five of his seven targets for 46 yards in the 23-20 win over the Broncos on Sunday.
The rookie was a healthy inactive the first two weeks, but with Will Dissly (knee) sidelined, Gadsden made the most of his immediate usage. While Tucker Fisk (29) and Tyler Conklin (22) played more or the same amount of snaps as Gadsden (22), it was clear the 2025 third-round pick was the only tight end that was utilized as a legitimate pass-catching threat. While most of the targets were underneath checkdowns, Gadsden showed burst after the catch and routinely found space in Denver's vaunted zone defense. Los Angeles is suddenly overflowing with offensive targets, but if Greg Roman's scheme is forced to rely on the TE position, Gadsden could see more opportunities in the future.

Chargers' Oronde Gadsden: Inactive again Week 2
Gadsden (coach's decision) is a healthy scratch for Monday night's AFC West battle against Las Vegas.
Gadsden was also a healthy scratch Week 1 against the Chiefs, so he doesn't appear to be in the Chargers' offensive plans barring an injury ahead of him in the tight-end pecking order. The team will again roll with two tight ends -- Will Dissly and Tyler Conklin -- for Monday night's matchup.

Chargers' Oronde Gadsden: Healthy scratch vs. Chiefs
Gadsden (coach's decision) is listed as inactive for Friday's game versus Kansas City, Eric Smith of the Chargers' official site reports.
The Chargers apparently feel good rolling into Week 1 with just Will Dissly and Tyler Conklin available at tight end, so Gadsden will have to wait at least another week to make his regular-season debut. His absence might mean a few more snaps from the slot for Keenan Allen.

Chargers' Oronde Gadsden: Makes touchdown grab
Gadsden recorded three catches on four targets for 46 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 30-23 preseason loss.
Gadsden played for well over half of the game and showed off his ability as a pass catcher. His most notable grab was a contested 25-yard touchdown reception delivered by DJ Uiagalelei. Gadsden has gotten some positive attention for his performance during training camp, and he'll head into the first regular season of his pro career with some positive momentum.

Chargers' Oronde Gadsden: Plays behind Dissly
Gadsden made one catch on two targets for 12 yards in Saturday's 23-22 preseason loss to the Rams.
Gadsden started each of the Chargers' first two preseason contests, but the team hadn't played their projected starters in either game. The first-team offense took the field Saturday, with Will Dissly serving as the tight end. Gadsden has received strong reviews for his play during training camp, but it still might take some time for him to make a consistent impact in meaningful game situations.

Chargers' Oronde Gadsden: Making noise at Bolts camp
Gadsden has continued to show up consistently in the passing game during Chargers camp this summer, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
Gadsden was selected in the fifth round of the 2025 Draft out of Syracuse, where he erupted for a career receiving line of 143-2,000-14 across just 36 contests. Gadsden is long and athletic, standing at 6-foot-5 and 241 pounds, and his playmaking ability has stood out during practice. Gadsden has started each of the Chargers' first two exhibitions, though it's important to note Los Angeles has yet to field its true first-team offense during the preseason. Gadsden has accrued a 3-22-0 line on five targets while running 35 pass routes during that time. Gadsden is dripping with pass-catching upside, but the Chargers have many mouths to feed on offense, particularly after the signing of Keenan Allen late in the summer. Gadsden is in a crowded tight end room that also includes veterans Will Dissly and Tyler Conklin.
