Giants' Cam Skattebo: Takes three carries in pro debut
Skattebo took three carries for 12 yards in Thursday's 42-10 preseason win over the Patriots.
Making his preseason debut after a hamstring injury cost him a few weeks, Skattebo got the start on a night when Tyrone Tracy and Devin Singletary were among the many players rested. Skattebo played the first two drives and gained four yards on each of his three carries before calling it a night. Tracy appears to be the starter for Week 1 against Washington, with both Skattebo and Singletary candidates for roles off the bench. All the missed time during training camp and the preseason killed any chance Skattebo might've had to push Tracy for the lead role Week 1.

Giants' Cam Skattebo: Dressed for Thursday's game
Skattebo is suited up ahead of Thursday's preseason contest versus the Patriots, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.
The Giants invested a fourth-round pick in Skattebo during the 2025 NFL Draft, and he was impressing as a receiver out of the backfield early on in training camp before sustaining a hamstring injury in practice on Aug. 1. He proceeded to miss the team's first two exhibitions before getting back on the field Tuesday, when he logged team drills. New York isn't expected to make many of its starters available Thursday, but if Skattebo suits up, he'll have his first in-game opportunity to push Devin Singletary for the No. 2 spot on the RB depth chart behind starter Tyrone Tracy.

Giants' Cam Skattebo: Taking part in team drills
Skattebo (hamstring) is participating in team drills Tuesday, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.
Skattebo already appears to be a full participant in his return to practice, a welcome payoff after the Giants took a cautious approach to his recovery from a hamstring strain and kept him sidelined for the first two preseason games. The rookie fourth-rounder's final chance to log exhibition reps will come Thursday versus New England, and putting together a strong performance would significantly aid Skattebo's chances of pushing veteran incumbent Devin Singletary for backfield reps behind presumed Week 1 starter Tyrone Tracy.

Giants' Cam Skattebo: Gets back on practice field
Skattebo (hamstring) is expected to return to practice Tuesday, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.
Skattebo's hamstring injury forced him to miss the Giants' first two preseason games, and with a quick turnaround before Thursday's exhibition finale against the Patriots, it remains to be seen whether the rookie fourth-round pick will have a chance to suit up. Per Evan Barnes of Newsday, coach Brian Daboll hinted that Skattebo will be limited in his return to practice Tuesday. Tyrone Tracy has dominated first-team reps throughout training camp and appears destined to kick off the regular season as New York's starting running back, but once fully healthy, Skattebo will compete for backup snaps and touches with veteran Devin Singletary.

Giants' Cam Skattebo: Sits out preseason opener
Skattebo (hamstring) didn't play in New York's preseason win against Buffalo on Saturday.
It's no surprise that Skattebo didn't suit up, as he's been dealing with a hamstring issue for over a week. An MRI on Skattebo's hamstring early in the week showed promising results, so the hope is still that the rookie fourth-round pick will be able to see preseason action at some point. Tyrone Tracy is essentially a lock to be New York's starting running back to open the campaign, and while veteran Devin Singletary is listed as the No. 2 RB on the team's initial depth chart, per Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site, Skattebo could end up challenging Singletary for touches if he's able to get back to health and continue turning heads as he was prior to the injury.

Giants' Cam Skattebo: Optimistic MRI results
Head coach Brian Daboll said Monday that the MRI on Skattebo's (hamstring) leg yielded optimistic results, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
Daboll added that all of the Giants' injured players are getting better, casting a wide net that includes Skattebo. Tyrone Tracy and Devin Singletary have been splitting first-team snaps in training camp, though Skattebo had been making a push to join them prior to his injury. Despite the positive update from Daboll, Skattebo may be held out of Saturday's preseason opener against Buffalo.

Giants' Cam Skattebo: Exits practice with trainer
Skattebo left Friday's practice early and went inside with the training staff, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.
The rookie reportedly made a good impression during the first week of camp, especially with his pass catching, but he's been a limited participant during the second week while seemingly faced with a minor injury, per Evan Barnes of Newsday. It's unclear if Skattebo's early exit Friday is related to the issue that limited his practice participation the previous few days. Early reports out of camp suggest he's mostly worked with backups, while Tyrone Tracy and Devin Singletary have gotten most of the first-team reps.

Giants' Cam Skattebo: Day-to-day with hamstring injury
Head coach Brian Daboll told reporters that Skattebo is considered day-to-day with a hamstring injury and will not practice Saturday, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.
Skattebo suffered the injury during Friday's training camp practice. While he's labeled as day-to-day, the rookie fourth-rounder is in danger of missing the Giants' preseason opener against the Bills on Aug. 9. He's been receiving the bulk of backup reps behind Tyrone Tracy and Devin Singletary during the first weeks of training camp. With Skattebo and Eric Gray (undisclosed) sidelined, Dante Miller will have the opportunity to see an uptick in reps with the second-team offense.

Giants' Cam Skattebo: Impressing as pass catcher in camp
Skattebo has turned heads in training camp, "doing a lot of his damage catching the ball out of the backfield," Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
Raanan notes that Tyrone Tracy and Devin Singletary have gotten "almost all" of the first-team reps so far during camp but suggests that Skattebo eventually could get more work with the starting unit if he continues to play well. New York is still in the very early part of camp -- Monday's practice was the team's first in pads -- but Skattebo already has made an impression, including by catching a touchdown pass from fellow rookie Jaxson Dart in the right corner of the end zone to conclude practice Friday. Coach Brian Daboll has expressed praise for Skattebo, saying that the Arizona State product "runs hard" and sharing that he's "looking forward to watching him run." Tracy remains the Giants' projected No. 1 RB, but if Skattebo is able to use his superb pass-catching skills to contribute to the offense, he could carve out a role substantial enough to make him an intriguing fantasy asset.
