Lions' Dominic Lovett: Relegated to special teams
Lovett went without a target while playing two of the Lions' 62 snaps on offense in Thursday's 44-30 win over the Cowboys.
The rookie wideout has been active for all but one of Detroit's 13 games this season, but he's been used almost exclusively on special teams. He's played 14 offensive snaps in total and has yet to draw a target.

Lions' Dominic Lovett: Limited to special teams in Week 7
Lovett logged all 11 of his snaps on special teams Monday in the Lions' 24-9 win over the Buccaneers.
A rookie seventh-round wideout of Georgia, Lovett has suited up for each of the Lions' first seven games but has played just seven total snaps on offense. Unless Detroit's depth at receiver takes a hit, Lovett should continue to see the overwhelming majority of his playing time on special teams, where he has a role on the Lions' coverage units.

Lions' Dominic Lovett: Nabs two catches against Miami
Lovett (abdomen) caught two passes (on three targets) for 14 yards during the Lions' 24-17 preseason loss to the Dolphins on Saturday.
Lovett had been sidelined due to an abdominal injury, but he was cleared to play Saturday after going through pregame warmups without a setback. He didn't make much of an impact on offense but he recovered a fumble on a muffed punt, which led to a 33-yard field goal by Jake Bates eight plays later. Lovett has a path to make the Lions' 53-man roster as a contributor on special teams. The rookie seventh rounder's final chance to audition for a roster spot will be in Detroit's preseason finale against Houston on Saturday, Aug. 23.

Lions' Dominic Lovett: Could return Saturday
Lovett (abdomen) is suited up and taking part in special-teams warmups ahead of Saturday's preseason matchup versus the Dolphins, Richard Silva of The Detroit News reports.
Lovett was able to play in Detroit's first exhibition contest against the Chargers, tallying five catches on nine targets for 31 yards. However, he hurt his abdomen during practice the following week and missed the Lions' second preseason game, which was against Atlanta last Friday. It appears Lovett -- who returned to practice Thursday -- has made enough progress in his recovery to potentially return to action against the Dolphins, which would be a big boost for him in his bid to earn a roster spot as a depth wideout.

Lions' Dominic Lovett: Expected to miss several days
Lovett (abdomen) is expected to be sidelined for one to two weeks, Benjamin Raven of MLive.com reports.
"Lovett may be 10 days," coach Dan Campbell said Wednesday. "I mean it's just going to take a minute." The seventh-round rookie wide receiver was injured in practice earlier this week after playing 36 offensive snaps in last week's Hall of Fame Game against the Chargers, where Lovett collected five catches for 31 yards on nine targets. He's certain to miss Friday's preseason contest against the Falcons.

Lions' Dominic Lovett: Exits practice with abdominal issue
Lovett exited Monday's practice with an abdominal injury and was unable to return, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.
Lovett was a seventh-round pick out of Georgia, 244th overall, by the Lions back in April. He can't afford to miss many valuable reps he'd be getting in practice and the preseason. Lovett played 36 offensive snaps in last week's Hall of Fame Game against the Chargers, securing five of nine targets for 31 yards.

Lions' Dominic Lovett: Lions add Round 7 wideout
The Lions selected Lovett in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 244th overall.
There was a time where Lovett (5-foot-10, 185 pounds) appeared headed toward something more like the first round of the draft, because during his sophomore year at Missouri he caught 56 receptions for 846 yards and three touchdowns on 74 targets (75.7 percent catch rate, 11.4 yards per target) -- excellent figures for a true sophomore in the SEC. Lovett's production largely fell apart from that point, though -- Lovett transferred to Georgia for his junior season, but drops were a recurring issue, and in his senior season Lovett's yards-per-target figure dropped all the way to 6.5. The Lions will presumably try to work Lovett in the slot, where perhaps his hands improve so that Lovett can fully capitalize on his 4.40 speed.
